This is the best covid song on the record. He's 100% singing about throwing away covid this year.

 

Taking What a Time to Be Alive as just a Covid song is not doing it justice. It’s just using the terminology to discuss feeling isolated when everything is going to hell around you. You can not like the metaphor but it’s a huge oversimplification to stop there.

 

This album has exceeded my expectations and then some. Fake Out is my favorite, hits home so hard.

 

A week in, I’m now currently in the “looked up the lyrics and, oh boy, have I been singing that wrong” phase of a FOB album release.

thats a mood. the spotify lyrics feature has been my best friend. i found out today that the line on Fake Out is not "Make no plans, enough to be broken". it doesnt really make sense when i spell it out like that but i initially thought the line was about how, by excluding yourself from social settings, you would deteriorate mentally. the actual line is cool though too.

 

Genius lyrics is the site I use. Generally pretty accurate and up relatively fast for bigger artists.

 

I only just realised he's not saying "part time sorry, full time problem" and it shook me lol

Not the new album, but I've been listening to that b-sides mix I made and on Dear Future Self, I totally thought Wyclef was singing "Knock knock knock knock a wizard". I know it makes absolutely no sense but I loved it anyway and now I know what he's really saying and I kind of wish I could go back to a time when I didn't know that.
