I hope people are livid that Andrew mentions space on his new record. So cliche for him. Terrible songs.

    like, sure, Jan.

If I cared about clunky lyrics here and there I wouldn’t be a Weezer fan lol

I met him in 2019, super nice guy. I got VIP for a show in July, so I’ll get to meet him again. This isn’t the thread to go on in haha so I’ll leave it at that. I only brought it up because it’s a good example of an artist who goes back to familiar muses.

Makes sense. I sometimes forget who is overseas on here. I can’t imagine what international shipping is like when I know what US domestic has been like the last few years.

where would i be if i was my brain Prestigious

I also didn’t know we needed bands to write lyrics in real time and not reflect on life lived between writing albums.

Have your opinion on not liking the lyrics but don’t expect to not get some heat for making that opinion public on a forum that is positive on that album.

Revisited some of their other stuff and landed on the following top 5 FOB albums (so far, as of this moment, nonbinding):

    1. Save Rock and Roll - My favorite version of this band's sound. Just such a tight collection of songs with hooks and vibes that were so thrilling in their album cycle and continue to be thrilling a decade(??? still not over this!) later. Still remember how hard "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark" hit when that music video dropped.
    2. So Much (For) Stardust - Also my favorite version of this band's sound. Gonna lead to FOB being one of my most played artists this year. It's just now approaching a week of being out, so don't wanna be too hyperbolic about it, but like, y'know... it just fucking slaps start-to-finish.
    3. Folie à Deux - I was so happy to listen to it this morning and see that it does, indeed, hold up dang well. This and the couple above are what I would consider "top tier FOB." Flows real well, too; still stand by the decision to put "What a Catch, Donnie" where it is & "West Coast Smoker" at the end.
    4. MANIA - Not as consistent as the above, imo. Roughly the... third quarter I think? Kinda misses for me. But, it starts very strong and has a lot of bangers. And, as a person of taste, I'm Team "Young and Menace" Obviously Rules.
    5. Infinity on High - I started a listen this morning and couldn't really vibe with it as a full album experience, especially in contrast to their proper best work. But, it's the album that brought me in and has some high highs, particularly "Thriller" "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race." Solid step from those pop punk beginnings (which I simply don't have the same kinda nostalgia for that much of this forum does, though obviously "Sugar" slaps) to what I consider the true version of this band.

Hey guys sorry I was working my three JOBS (which you people don't like to do anymore) and I'm on my lunch break but I'm skipping it because only the libs take breaks but I will say I am totally okay with never hearing another pop/punk song about "never growing up." Back to flipping my houses and money

This thread is reminding me that I don't pay much attention to lyrics these days. I think it's mainly due to lifestyle and my stage in life (almost 40) which no longer allows me to sit in dark rooms and pour over lyric sheets/lyric websites in order to not-so-subtly post away message quotes and what not. To me, as long as lyrics aren't noticeably terrible, I'm usually pretty content and also happy to go back after listening a lot to discern meanings for things I'm interested in.

I've also never had a problem with lyrics being fantasy or based on real events. Whatever serves the art and what the artist is trying to portray gets my vote.

Well, I work a 40 hour a week office job Mon-Fri 8:30-5, then 5:30-9 I work doordash and instacart. And for fun on weekends, I show apartments to people for my Landlords other properties and work more doordash and instacart.

I can send you my pay stubs if need be.
