Now he’s saying he doesn’t want major media coverage, he wants “young journalists” aka influencers

Considering the guy posted an episode where he went on public record saying he was going to share “Alphonso’s” address and phone number and reward fans for harassing them, I can’t say I’m even a little bit surprised lol

 

Really hope someone is able to download it or make a recording of it.

Only halfway through but some more points

- Confirms that Ice Spice dropped off, but then 10 minutes later talks about how great of a booking Ice Spice is
- He's comparing the Bamboozle lineup criticism to Coachella, saying people were up in arms about Blackpink and Bad Bunny being headliners.....Um, the 2 biggest artists in the world right now and you're comparing them to your Papa Roach and Aoki bookings?
- He acknowledges that Live Nation controlled Bamboozle until 2018 and just didnt wanna do it, and that they reached out to most of the Adjacent artists and they just didnt wanna do it.....how does he not see he's the common denominator here?
- He's mentioned Say Anything like a dozen times already as if it's such an amazing booking.
- I'm the bad boy of the industry lmao
- At one point he's proudly says that Bamboozle is unlike any other festival, but then a second later starts bragging that 11% of his lineup is also on Lollapalooza. 8 artists on your lineup being lost in the middle of an 100 artist Lolla lineup isn't something to brag about.
- "We were the only date that Blackbear had this year." No, it wasn't. Also doesnt acknowledge the 30 days it took them to remove him from the poster. Also he kinda blows up Blackbear's spot about some new project he's working on.
- "Adjacent is not a contemporary music festival." I cant believe the festival that has Papa Roach and Limp Bizkit headlining thinks that Paramore and Blink and Japanese Breakfast and Bleachers and Turnstile are NOT contemporary.
- "Our headliners next year are basically already booked." YEAH RIGHT.

 

Wow they actually took the podcast down hahaha. I had 10 minutes left and it just stopped.

Last thing I heard him say though: "These emo bands that didnt wanna play this year, they'll be BEGGING to be booked in the future."

 

I cringe at statements like this. The "guitar rock is dead and nobody is doing anything important, fun or interesting in that space" mentality is almost as annoying as the boomers who just can't let go of the fact that music with guitars isn't at the top of the pile anymore.

It's still relevant. And, frankly, the fact that so many bands on Adjacent are a little older and still garnering new fans is super fucking impressive! From emo to indie to hardcore to punk... There's a lot happening. It's not on the radio and it's not selling out stadiums. But that doesn't make it any less successful. The target has just shifted.

What's cool (to me, at least) is that some of the older Adjacent acts aren't fresh faces or whatever anymore but they're still relevant and making cool art to crowds ranging in age from like, 16 to 45. That's far more impressive to me than an artist who is doing huge numbers with kids now that... Clearly is riding a trend and likely won't be around in a few years (or will have to pivot to a new genre).

 

Not to doxx myself or anything but, re: expectations being too high

I asked him straight up in an IG comment before the lineup release whether the lineup will be worth flying cross country for. This is after WWWY lineup release, and FF had 1/2 their lineup out. So my expectations were pretty high, at least comparable to those 2 fests.

Of course he gave an emphatic yes, its so worth it. Its so worth our Coachella price tag.

So he can fuck off with his line about expectations being too high. His 10 days of Bamboozle release will go down as one of the worst artists announcements in the history of the business. It turned everyone off so bad. Im glad I waited to see what the lineup would be, because obviously it doesn't compare to the many other fests across the country.
