What A Time To Be Alive has went from a meh track on first listen to one of my favorites.

So Good Right Now is the only thing I dislike. It could be really massive in a kids movie though, it sounds very Disney.

 

I think that’s my gripe with so good right now. It’s just so happy and jovial, and I’m a bitter old man

 

I skip Time To Be Alive and So Good Right Now pretty much every time I listen through the album. Love every other song on here

 

I mean, I liked it a lot more when I understood the line of “so, we’ll crash and burn somehow.” Like, I might feel good at the moment, but this will come to an abrupt stop at some point.

 

To clarify what I meant the other day about my aversion to songs that mention the pandemic, it’s fine to write about it. It’s a life changing shared experience, so it’s pretty much impossible not to if you’re a creative in any capacity. There’s definitely a lot of emotional weight that could be unpacked that I would personally find very interesting to hear in a song like themes of isolation, discomfort, anxiety, mistrust, routine, etc. That being said, directly using, for lack of a better word, “buzzwords” like pandemic, quarantine, etc. in songs about them feels incredibly shallow and one-dimensional, especially when everyone else is writing about the same thing. I’m sure I’ll get used to it once I have more listens under my belt, but that writing approach has definitely been something that briefly takes me out of it whenever I hear it.

 

This line more or less shields the song against any potential future use as a political campaign anthem and for that I am grateful.

 

As a pretty vocal member of the post-hiatus FOB is junk club....I'm pretty blown away how much i like this after a weekend with it. I didnt think they had this kind of album in them still. I still think the middle is very meh at best (tracks 6-10 including the two interludes) but having a FOB album with 8 tracks i genuinely like a lot in 2023 is pretty cool.

 

I Am My Own Muse would be such a good opener for the tour
