  1. Finally finished my big turntable project and got everything set up. Real happy with how it all turned out! The bottom cabinets will be perfect for overflow since I’d really like to leave a few squares open for decorative stuff. Still undecided for the one above the turntable lol, may just do photos there or something

I’m so OCD with my records now.

I have a “stack” by the turntable that has stuff I’ve purchased but haven’t spun yet.

Goes from there to opening, putting the records in anti-static sleeves, the jacket into a sleeve and any hype stickers go on the outside of the record jacket sleeve. Then I play and catalog the record. When the albums over it goes in the shelf according to Discogs.

    Mail day.

My proxy mailer company declared my Stereo album lost back in January and credited me the value plus pick up fees . I went to pick up my Snoh Aalegra album today and apparently they found it!

Man this looks fantastic, I’m about to run out of space on my current shelf and would love to do something like this when I move

That is perfect! Looks sick! Was it a custom build or some prefab pieces you modded?

  7. Thanks! Yeah it’s kind of a frankenstein — Kallax stacked onto a Bestå, then stacked onto a little frame of 2x4s to compensate for the baseboard. I sawed some of the shelves out of the Kallax to make some room, but drilled a pretty thick plywood panel into the back to reinforce it — thing’s tougher than nails now. The crown molding came from a local scrap shop, it was their last piece and was exactly the size I needed lol, it was meant to be

Haha, wowwww, that Adele photo. Good deal, I guess, for anyone who still wants a copy and doesn't have one.

"No market" is obviously hyperbole; that album sold 300,000 vinyl copies in two months at the end of 2021, and ended the year as the best selling vinyl album by a lot. They just overestimated the demand. Or, more accurately, they didn't play the game right; Taylor pressed way more of Midnights, but managed to move almost a million copies on vinyl by the end of 2022 just by embracing variants.

and that was a wholehearted embrace of variants too. 30 had variants, but the Midnights variants were better-differentiated, making some buyers feel like they were only buying one piece of a larger whole with the whole clock gimmick. honestly surprised the method worked so well for Taylor (seeing as that i'm more utilitarian with my record purchases - only owning a couple variants for differences in quality, additional tracks, or as a replacement for a damaged record).

I never do the "buy all the variants" thing, or even "buy multiple variants." I don't have two copies of anything; would rather just buy multiple different albums than one record 10 times! But I did appreciate the variability of the Midnights release with the alt covers and such. The Adele variants were about the most boring choices you could possibly have. No alternate covers, and the vinyl colors were, like, black, white, and clear. I'm not sure her fanbase ever would have gone variant crazy like Taylor's did, but they didn't do themselves any favors with the way they structured the different "editions."

A holy grail of mine. Best part is it came in mint condition and it’s never been played.
