This was super fun! Not reinventing any wheels but it would be good to hear live.

This was fun. Reminded me a bit of The Constant, which I seem to be one of the few who really love that album.

I can not for the life of me understand why they wanted to botch the end of those two choruses with that effect.

Honestly I've almost come around on it for the sheer hilarity of how out of place it sounds lol

Like, how is it possible NOT to grow tired of that during the production of the record? Should set off som alarms. Oh well. Still a great song. They know how to write great songs and choruses, that's for sure (although it looks like they've had some extra help during writing sessions this time around)

When most bands use that tape stop effect they don't cut it off as harshly and the word rings out a bit more. It's usually more of a slower fade if that makes sense. I don't think the effect is bad, it's just not used well here. Album is pretty dope though!

Will definitely be giving this more listens. Really enjoyed it. Like other (s?) said, I wasn't sure if the album would be as enjoyable, but it definitely is! I did have it on as mostly background music tonight, so I'll have to give a closer listen to lyrics and specific parts and affects, but musically overall, I was really digging War tonight (which i didn't like AS MUCH before), the title track, and especially Can't Save You. Take a Ride, Knives Out (the name) and Use Me gave me Page Avenue vibes (my most well known album). Will have to listen again to see if thoughts change, but I REALLY was vibing this tonight. As a whole, I'd say they hit this one out of the park for me!

This was quite an unexpected blast.

I originally didn’t like “2005”. For some reason it just didn’t quite sit with me and kind of felt idk tacky or trying too hard and maybe it’s just the drinks I’ve had but now I really like the song. Nothing wrong with some nostalgia / remembering the past.

Anyone else still waiting on a shipping notification from SharpTone for the vinyl? I emailed support and they said they would have to contact the "shipping team."

Afterglow would have been a much better lead single than Real Life. I agree with everyone who doesn't like the tape effect. It could've worked if they only did it the second time right before the bridge.

I love the aftergloop effect. Small production things like that made this a standout album compared to other emo rock albums that are all so generic these days.

I really disliked 2005. As I started the album I was ready to call this album of the year. The lyrics on this whole album really connected with me, but not that track. I almost wished the hook was simply something like ‘05 instead of 2005.

2005 is the only meh song on this for me but I'm sure the more I listen to the full album the more I'll come to like it.

Great album throughout, full of energy and love the production, definitely reminds me of Page Avenue.

    Some new or revised thoughts

Ohhh. Haha i just heard the "afterglop" yeah, I'd say that while this is still a decent song, it's one of my least faves. Perhaps it was an AFTERthought? Haha jk
I also have decided, as much as ive tried, i don't like 2005. And I'm also not the biggest fan of Real Life.

That said, this is still a killer album! I have also decided that Dead and Gone is another favorite. Anyone else heard The Used sounds? (Thinking as in the song Revolution.) Love that!

Speaking of other band sounds, i hear or am reminded of MCR in one of the songs. Which was it?...
I also think that Use Me could have totally been an early TBS song. Yea?

As far as Page Avenue vibes, i think it started with the song Sorry About Me and not really include Use Me, but i think all of these just reminded me of the music from back in those early 2000s, so PA included, i guess. Knives Out though definitely has PA title though, right?

I don't think i have any criticsms about the musicality of the album (effects and such. I'm not really an expert, but know basic music stuff), except for the "glop" and maybe some songs semmingly ending abruptly (thinking the title track). Everything else just seems perfectly placed. I think that much like The Used's Heartwork album, Tear Me to Pieces is going to get a lot of rave and praise from me.
