Are you guys asking the band to...SHAKE IT OUT?

pardon my lack of knowledge, but is The Valley of Vision officially being marketed as an EP or an album? i've seen both - scattered across press releases and official marketing by the band. i know it's EP length, but now seeing it moved from the EP to album section of Apple Music, i'm just a little confused.

I think their last two albums have been by far their best work that has allowed them to mature and reach wider audiences, while still holding love for the old stuff and I’m excited for the next record which they’ve indicated is a shift back towards some heavier stuff.

This EP is a fun little side quest holdover and they’ve yet to release a bad record.

I agree, the song is fine. It did leave me a little curious as to what the incomplete version from the MMoG sessions sounded like, because I could see a less-produced version of this song with the rest of the band all playing their instruments sounding pretty cool.

Give me RAGC style concept + rock opera + heavy and fuzzy. They've dabbled with these big songs before but it'd be cool for them to keep pushing and not settle.

I think the feeling of "I just wish there was more" has been happening quite a bit lately. No doubt Andy is a master of melodies and the band's bridges are top notch - they make beautiful songs; but it's sad that when I first heard Million Masks, I knew I'd probably like it more after I saw them play the songs live - because they improve. Their live energy and sound has yet to be captured on a record (and they didn't do too great when they made the attempt with COPE).

Anyone who has seen the band live has probably been blown away by how heavy and hard they go. If only they could capture that sound and not sound so reserved.

Where Have You Been is one of my all-time favorite MO songs, but I can barely listen to the album version anymore because my face has been blown off too many times seeing it live. One of the best live songs by any band.

Agreed. Worth subscribing to Patreon just to download a live version of all the "i'm like a virgin" tracks.

These are both solid, but the new one has me a lot more excited to hear the whole thing than Capital Karma did. Feel like they're trying to release something that might appeal to people who are fans of Phoebe's cover of the Gold. Hopefully the next album will shake it up a bit more and this EP works as a capstone to the Black Mile/Million Masks era.

I’d take this over cope pt 2 any day. A “heavy” record sounds good in theory but I think the reality would be something that doesn’t play to the bands current strengths.

I have no problems with any of their discography and I trust whatever direction they choose to go in because I enjoy all their albums and their ability to sound quite different from era to era. Personally, I like these 2 new (old?) songs. I could see where some fans from the beginning can start to get turned off by this more mellow/experimental sound(s) but I do think it's also true they picked up quite a bit of a following with the release of their last two records and the band is probably trying to please a new fanbase while also appeasing to the original fans.

I don't know. This is also coming from a die-hard who thinks Pride is easily their most overrated song. So take anything I say with a grain of salt.

Yea, I’m sure we are more fan boys than a lot of people but it helps knowing that this is sort of a hold over project and not their next full on lp cycle. I’m assuming the next album we get in two years from now will be a lot different than the last 3 releases.

I'm shocked that people aren't loving "My Way" as much as I do... I feel like Manchester Orchestra are just embarrassing other bands now with their consistency and ability to continue to evolve, shift, & progress their sound without EVER missing... Although the thought of the next album being a heavier rock-sounding version of Manchester Orchestra 2.0 has me absolutely tickled pink lol.

Love this song. Loving this little mini-cycle. We don't deserve this band.
