This is a long shot but does anyone know what happened to the band Laruso? They released one album in 2009, toured with Fightstar and the two bands seemed pretty close at one point. According to their wikipedia "nothing has been heard from the band since early 2010" so I was just wondering if anyone knows why they seemingly broke up without telling anyone?

I can remember really enjoying their album when I was 16 lol, and they sounded a lot like Fightstar.

Not heard of Laruso in years. They were actually from my hometown and did a couple of shows with Penknifelovelife back in the day.

Not sure what happened to them unfortunately but A Classic Case ruled.

Their guitarist, Carl Bown, went on to help produce Be Human and Behind the Devil’s back.

Since I bumped this thread earlier this week, I think I've listened to Palahniuk's Laughter about ten times.

It feels odd saying that the opening song on their first EP is their best song. But honestly, I think it is. And if it isn't, then the EP version of Mono is.

LP version of "Mono" all day, every day.

Gonna potentially sound like a fake fan right now but I just realized I've never heard that first EP (I don't think I have anyway). Since it's not on streaming (it isn't here in the US anyway) I never bothered trying to find a download of it, I didn't realize it was that essential tbh

The US got a longer version with a few more Grand Unification tracks on it I think. It’s really good

It's definitely worth checking out. Amethyst is pretty great. And Speak Up is a lot of fun.

Hard disagree. I think it's way too clinically produced. The EP version builds up so intimately, with a sense of hollowness, then when it breaks it's like a bomb's gone off. Even the little rain break is better on the EP version with Charlie screaming in the distance.

I heard the LP version first. Also, I prefer the key it's in. Also, it's better.

Yeah it isn’t on Apple Music either lol. Maybe it did come out in the US at one point but isn’t available anymore, idk

I have that first EP on vinyl signed by all of them. Next time I'm back in England I'll have to dig it out

Shame that his version of Pink's 'Try' wasn't on that EP. He absolutely killed that on the show.

Saw a couple of people online reporting that Charlie had said Fightstar were coming back and doing new music/tours and then I listened to the clip and he really didn't say anything at all other than he'd like to do it again at some point.

Maybe around 2024/25 for a twenty year anniversary. I'm pretty sure Gunship are sitting on their next album and it sounds like Busted have plans so I wouldn't expect anything soon.

Yeah it's not as concrete as people are making out. It seems like he's not really committing to anything right now though haha. The Busted comments were just as flimsy. Omar posted the clip on his Instagram though and he seems down so hopefully it does happen soon. Hopefully they can get a whole album done though and not just a few songs.

  22. My bad for bumping this without any news but I'm listening to this album by the band Vexes and the Fightstar vibes are strong at times, "We Are If We Dare" being the first song that made me double check what I was listening to... it's uncanny.

If the name sounds familiar, it may be because their debut album was shared in the Deftones thread a couple years back.

Sorry for bumping again with no news, but been doing a Fightstar discography run for the first time in a while. Genuinely think they’re one of my favorite post-hardcore bands at this point. Can’t believe so many of my friends here in the US haven’t heard them. I know Charlie has always been much bigger in the UK, but so many of my friends who love post-hardcore know nothing about this band, and that’s a huge shame. Genuinely great discography with no misses for me.
