If they're doing charlotte vs sasha hiac...then why last night? It's true. If you want they can wrestle for the title every two weeks

OSW review did a video podcast on this whole PPV. It's excellent.

I'm at work so I can't watch yet. Is that the whole PPV with them doing commentary throughout?

Also, I know he's done it in the past, but has Stone Cold done running commentary for that 3 Stages of Hell match before?

Yes, and they do whole backstory between almost every match and even what happened to some wrestlers in the future after that PPV.

They do a 3 PPV story arc of the Rumble that year, No Way Out, then Wrestlemania X7, with some other stuff in between they cover. I HIGHLY suggest checking it out if you haven't. Incredibly done.

Ive been rewatching the Attitude Era, and just made it through that PPV. Honestly, that Royal Rumble to WM build might be the greatest 3-month period the company ever had.

And that 3 stages match is great.

Also, the tag title belts swapped hands every few weeks during that era (twice in 2 weeks on the Raws after No Way Out), and yet those are probably the best/most remembered tag teams the companies' had.

Once I discovered them I was occupied for at least 2 weeks. They have tons of great stuff. Irish dudes too. The accents make it all the better.

Was the 2001 Rumble the one where Vince lures Stone Cold into the bathroom and knocks him out?

Hmm I think that was 99'

HHH attacked Austin in 2001 I believe

Nah. 2001 was the Drew Carey year. Austin entered late 20s, HHH attacked him and bloodied him for costing him his title shot earlier in the night. But then Austin ultimately won

Yah Austin was a heel in '01. McMahon got him in the Rumble. Oof.

2001 was such a shit year for WWE and wrestling in general. Them turning Austin heel added with the terrible Invasion angle is what turned me off of wrestling as a preteen. I remember babyface Kurt Angle being a definite highlight of that period for me though.

hahaha, even worse for the tag title belts, they changed hands twice in one night in that build. Dudleys at Rumble, Hardys on Mar 5 Raw, E/C on Mar 19 Raw, later that night, Dudleys won them back. E/C at WM. Kane/Taker 2 weeks later on Smackdown...2 man power trip 2 weeks later at Backlash.

And then someone new won them monthly til the brand split

I think 2000 was the year I completely stopped watching. I haven't watched anything from the eras that followed, outside of WMs.

Yeah, I think I watched into parts of 2001, but WM17 is about as far as I made it. It really fell off by the start of '02

My Dad was a WCW diehard until the very end so I really have no memories of WWE outside brief snippets when Shane and Steph became on screen characters.

I'd say we were a WWF home as a little kid throughout the early 90's (I dressed up as Big Bossman for Halloween when I was 3 or 4), then we switched to pretty much exclusively watching WCW from 1995 to 1997, in 1998 we switched back in forth between WWF and WCW, and from 1999 to 2001 we dropped WCW and started watching both WWF and ECW, and by 2002 we stopped watching alltogether.

I picked wrestling back up in the leadup to Wrestlemania 30 in 2014 because of the Daniel Bryan storyline and the release of the Network.

I do kind of regret missing the rise of Eddie as a WWE champion and the Evolution angle though.

Wm17 is a pretty common ground drop off period for wrestling fans. There are a ton of factors that played into it but I think simply wrestling fatigue was the biggest culprit.

Also wcw going out of business psychology left a lot of wrestling fans kinda despondent

The product up until benoits death definitely had some great stuff in it.

We were a WWF house too, stopped watching during my freshman year in high school, picked it back up right before Rock/Cena II, the only WCW PPV I ever saw live was "Uncensored '99" or whatever one had that match that was fought on the back of a flatbed truck

That was Uncensored 1995. King of the Road match.
