Question for anyone here that goes to shows in Toronto/knows the venue in the area, is it just me or do tours just not go to Rebel anymore like.. at all? I feel like the docks/sound academy used to be a venue I was going to pretty regularly, and now I never see anything booked for there. Did History just kill it?

yes History is a much better venue with the same capacity and as a concertgoer I don’t miss being stuck in the parking lot an hour after the show.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

History is a lot easier to get to with public transit too instead of Rebel- Im totally fine not being out by the Docks

Rebel has some strange sight lines. I remember seeing Scissor Sisters there and having the worst view ever.

Danforth is still my fav venue in the city. The Phoenix is cool too, really love that they started booking so many queer dance parties and stuff there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not torn up about it. The Docks was never my favourite venue and History is much better in every way, I just thought it was strange never seeing anything booked for there given the amount of tours happening.

Danforth is also my favorite, mostly because I think they're one of the only (maybe the only one?) venues that allow re-entry. It's nice to go out and get some fresh air and cool down sometimes haha

Recently saw DRUGS and as predicted the only member onstage during their set who isn’t a member of Varials was Craig!

I was thinking about going but it'd be a huge hassle for me to get to and then I saw he's only been playing like 3 of the new songs, all which I saw on the SKSK tour and it just doesn't seem that worth it to me

A little over half the crowd in Houston stayed after Varials but the small venue was full before that. They played a new song and he's been teasing new content on socials.

Almost went just for Daoboys but didn’t feel like driving to warehouse whenever I got off of work.

I went to this tour not knowing anything about them and their intro was the beginning of Thriller by FOB and I laughed my ass off, they know how to put on a fun show. I was described them to a friend as guy fronted IWABO but with a violin.

I went to that DRUGS in Tampa on my birthday and it was pretty empty. They used the inside stage instead of the outside stage and the inside is a lot smaller

I might go just for Daoboys because I have a friend in the band and this is their first time in my area, but I will 100% be leaving right after their set if I do go.

SxSw has always been a losing proposition for 99.9% of people who play it. I think acts should get payed more but I also wonder what the point of playing at that festival is anymore. The "buzz" generated is so minimal.

Daoboys were the only band on that bill I wanted to see, tbh, and with there being two other things that night I couldn't justify it.

I was also thinking of going just for Daoboys (though I would've also watched 156 Silence and local opener Deep Incision, but I kinda hate Varials and Craig Owens never really did anything for me)
