Missing out on the Hella Mega tour (and still not being able to get any money back from it!) is absolutely the worst thing to happen to me in the last 10 years, easily

Also I know what I'm doing but, I just noticed two years ago...
And I'd say it's the same but now I'd switch 21st and Insomniac

Such a fantastic record!! Is there many live recordings from around then? I am not very well versed in the non-officially released live scene, but listening to these Nimrod anniversary songs makes me wanna check out more (good quality) live shit from back then

It would surprise me immensely if there weren’t a TON of live shows sitting unreleased on tapes somewhere from every beloved era of this band. Unreleased being the operative word, unfortunately. I wish they’d go the route of older legacy bands and release a bunch of official live recordings.

If there was any justice in this world, there would have been a 7-LP, 5-CD Green Day live box set that they pressed too many copies of and that got marked down 45% every other month on Insound.com. You’d buy one for yourself and one to resell on Discogs at 75% retail so the giant set only cost you $30. It could have been a beautiful thing.

There’s a live ep “Tune In Tokyo” with 6 live tracks that was released in 2001 so I’m assuming they probably recorded the whole show. Maybe if they ever release an anniversary set for Warning that would be a bonus disc.

I would recommend going to Youtube or Google. I’m sure there are a bunch of bootlegs out there.

They’ve been recording every show for at least the last 15 years.

I'm really bad at finding rarer vinyls, is there any official pressing of Warning? It's the only "prime" GD album I don't have on wax

    Official, as in retailer?

I guess just like an official pressing like one you would find in Barnes & Noble or Urban Outfitters or something?

  12. I ordered some Green Day coffee this morning when I randomly woke up at like 5 AM. I just remembered.

I mean, people selling them on Discogs bought them at places like that. The chance of finding one in the wild at a store without a depress is insanely low. Discogs has official copies, just not from businesses, most likely. There are some shops that sell online with Discogs. So maybe from a shop?

Discogs is good, especially if you go with a seller with good ratings

For sure. I’ve gotten a good bit through there. Only had one potential issue when one seller apparently didn’t check their email for like a week. But ultimately, I got my vinyl safely.

As for Warning, there are a few options, though many won’t like the prices.

    Green Day - Warning:

This has a couple options and then a handful of insane ones

    Green Day - Warning:

There’s one of this one, a higher price on the lower end of the price spectrum, but not insane.

    Green Day - Warning:

Unfortunately, most of the variants do not have any copies for sale. With such limited options, some are looking to charge as much as possible.

Kill The DJ is so so much worse than I was remembering

Legitimately could be their worst song

It’s very bad, but has plenty of worthy competition between foam and the trilogy

The last Green Day album was Warning, I thought. And then everything after was Billy Joe, Tre, and Mike’s new band?

I think Fuck Time wins out. But yeah Kill The DJ is close. Can’t believe that was a single.

Don’t act like American Idiot isn’t great. And there’s some bangers on 21CBD. Then a pile of trash. RevRad was cool.

In hindsight, American Idiot is phenomenal but it’s still an abrupt redirect from the rest of their career trajectory and it’s where I dropped off.

It was always a weird record to me as Warning was their “we’re getting older and folkier” mellower album and they followed it up with a teenage mall punk anthem album that seemed primed for people 10-15 years younger than who’d be tapping their feet along to Warning.

I thought Rev Radio would have ripped if it had straight-ahead Insomniac-ish production. The little bells and whistles and sound effects added on top kinda take me out of how cool some of the underlying music is.

The first piece of physical music I ever owned was a blue Dookie cassette my uncle pulled out of his glove box and handed to me with no case or artwork when I was 8. And a few months later I walked into a record store with my mom and saw a huge display for Insomniac and I had no idea if it was a new album or older album and I bought it blind and I loved it even more than Dookie. So, I have a strong bias to Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, and Nimrod as their prime and Warning as a nice cool down. And it hurts my heart that they scrapped an Insomniac-esque record to pivot into epic opera Green Day.

Fuck Time is a dumb but fun song.

Kill The DJ is catchy and pleasant.

They're definitely not the best on the trilogy by any stretch of the imagination, but I also don't dislike them.
