I both love and hate seeing shows here. It's objectively cool as shit to be on a rooftop right beside the Brooklyn Bridge watching a show. But it's got plenty of annoying quirks; sound is bad, you have to get on an escalator to go to/from the bathroom & merch. I will say that when you get into the venue, don't just stand there, walk all the way over to the right side. Everyone stops right at the top of the escalators but you can get so much closer & have less wait times at the other bar if you walk to the other side

    Not bad!

This lineup is a rare instance that the undercard is way more appealing to me than the headliners. I see numerous bands here that I’m down to see, but I have no interest in the headliners. Haha

I'd watch the Killers and Muse. Maybe not a full set, but at least part of it... I do agree, though! The undercard is infinitely more interesting!

If this were my local fest, I'd 100% be going. I'd probably shoot for Friday and Saturday only though, rather than a 3-day pass. There's some stuff on Sunday I'd be into (Future Islands, OFF!, FIDLAR, Live, and Snail Mail). But definitely not enough to justify a 3-day pass.

Probably been mentioned before, but Shaky knees offered free entry for life if you got their logo tattooed, which my wife and I promptly did. They capped it at the 3rd or 4th year, and you had to register it (no exceptions whatsoever), by a certain date. Every year, I just get a front gate email with my ticket, and pick it up at the box office with ID. I couldn't go last year, and I wasn't able to pick it up before I went on vacation, but still good value for money. It's not the best tattoo, a little bit wonky on the linework, but the logo only had to be a quarter dollar and I was itching for a new one anyone and just incorporated it. It's on my thigh and free music as long as the fest exists.

I think they vastly underestimated how many idiots were willing to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if they give away thousands of tickets each year. I've met so many people who have one. It's just the SK and the lightning bolts. Everything else was optional.

God I wish this was a thing at other fests, I have WAY stupider tattoos I got for zero incentive other than being an idiot

Ha, I've often wondered about this. I feel like the UK gets better festival lineups but us Americans have more opportunities to see people play on various legs of album cycles. Is that the sentiment?

My other grievance, and this is more from someone who's lived in Manhattan/Brooklyn for a 16 years, is that EVERYWHERE around the Seaport is fucking crazy expensive (and that's even by NYC standards).

Bought my tickets. I hate the wiltern so this is a big sigh of relief that there is an hob anaheim show

Pier 17 is a beautiful venue, but it always feels like shows cost $15 more than they should there. And drink prices are really steep, even by NYC standards.

BUT you have a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge, and shows have to end by 10pm. My old tired ass loves that.

Honestly all shows should end by 10. No more 5 band bills.

You are not wrong at all, I spend a lot of money every show there.
Totally forgot about this, HUGE plus about shows here. I've had numerous shows end at 9:45 & I'm home by like 10:30, it's beautiful

As someone who lives in NYC, I forget that for people in the suburbs, going to shows here is like an EVENT in that you have to coordinate train times, parking, etc. For all the shit we have to deal with here, it's nice to just like roll home from a show and be in bed less than an hour after it ends.

specifically why my wife and I aren’t going to Enter Shikari’s album release show. Two $40 tickets turn into. $500 day where we need to request off work that day and the next

  16. Valencia! Hope they and Boys Like Girls make it to the midwest this year. Funny that after so much buildup they still couldn't announce the full lineup.

Also with weather patterns, it's often cold as fuck on the east coast in early May still. Just a miserable time all around.

  18. Bamboozle's kinda weak this year

Props to them getting some cool hardcore bands at least. Wish Riot Fest would do that.

this is my main gripe with riot fest too.

bamboozle… super underwhelming based on some of the big names they have pulled in the past. really glad i didn’t jump at the opportunity before the lineup dropped.

Everyone going to Bamboozle should make sure to watch Gridiron and Mindforce.
