Okkervil River is the best of the early 2000s folk revival bands

Hard to disagree with that. The new album is fucking nuts RT

Bon Iver's version of Blue Tulip is everything to me

  4. I would recommend to you This Will Destroy You's self titled record. I'd personally take that album alone over most of Explosion's discography.

I don't know how well it counts, vut Have A Nice Life is also good for entry-level post-rock. They were one of the first I've listened to, anyhow.

I wouldn't rec HANL to someone just trying to get into post rock, personally, haha. I feel like they're way weirder and more abrasive than most other bands

im not sure how unpopular this opinion is or if this comparison is a bit of a stretch, but You Blew It are a better version of Weezer

funnily enough, You Blue Is is something ive been pretty familiar with for about a year or however long its been released. But just in terms of the bands other releases. YBI have a somewhat similar songwriting style to Weezer, I can see shades of Rivers in Tanners writing style, but I think YBI do it much better and are far less......idk, creepy?

I don't rly think tanner writes like rivers, tbh. I think tanners more in line with, like, maybe if Max bemis was good? Idk. Honestly actually now that you mention it I can kinda get it ha. I also vastly prefer YBI

the reason i compare them is because theyre both verbose but also strange and come off awkwardly, but in a good way. I think Tanner does it much better and is just a better songwriter in general. yes on the Max Bemis comparison lol

I have not liked that band at all whenever I've checked them out. What's the best place for me to try them again?

Saw them live once and they put on a good show. I don't ever listen to them... the vocals put me off for some reason. I don't dislike them; they're just a band I never really got well enough acquainted with.

Their last EP, Pioneer Of Nothing, would be good

The new Bon Iver record is pretty awful and only has one good song on it...

I know it's very early and I'm trying to give this one a chance as I absolutely love BI/BI and think Beth / Rest is one of the greatest songs ever, but I really don't understand at all where people are coming from with this one. People are already calling it their AOTY and saying it is one of the greatest albums of all time, and to me it sounds like he got drunk and messed around with a vocoder and forgot to actually write any songs. I'm gonna give it a few more listens because I do think Justin Vernon is really talented, but I can't remember the last time I felt so out of the loop, Emperor's New Clothes style here.

The Kids Aren't All Right just came on and I died inside of its greatness. If ppl don't like current fob whatever, but that song is a masterpiece and I won't hear otherwise!!

I apologize for referencing an old, beaten to death topic lol
