My dad's side of the family are big fans of Santana, a big part because it meant so much to see Mexican success in such a cool way, his music has always kinda been part of my culture for that side of the family. I've seen him multiple times live and his shows are fun as hell. I get that he's pretty cheesy at times and in his older age his solos are all kinda the same haha, but overall he's good stuff

Clapton has a ton of great music in his career. He's also a douchebag.

the doors are great. jim morrison was a hack poet but the music and his vocals are all that matters. patti smith is the one true rock poet. the rolling stones might be the best band ever.

The narrative that his lyrics are bad doesn’t hold up. If people dont like em whatever, but they’re pretty consistent with the lyrical fare of their peers, and Jim’s clearly going for something

Idk too much about Santana's catalogue or guitar playing but Maria Maria is an all time great song

Santana III absolutely fucking rips. The s/t and Abraxas are also awesome.

Santana has a bunch of good stuff. Even his recent Africa-themed release sounded good when I sampled it.

today's bad opinion: I received my copy of Will Sheff's Nothing Special yesterday (beautiful package and sound, A+). It was released in one color style, one that precisely matches the palette of the artwork. it made me realize this is by far the best way to do a colored vinyl release and that everything above that is essentially funko pop shit. if there's going to be a design element added to your media there should be some intent behind it other than "make more money."

No that’s definitely a good opinion. Vinyl that isn’t either black or the same color palette as the art is stupid.

counter to my previous opinion: the only way I could afford to purchase the converge discography used was because the butt ugly variants (shout out to yellow) flooded local record stores

My vinyl complaint: l'm not a fan of the fact that there are so many variants of larger indie releases in the scene nowadays across a single pressing. You don't need ten variants and BrooklynVegan, RevHQ, and indie retailers each don't need their own exclusive version.

Hadn't listened to this song in years but me and my friends went down a butt rock Youtube rabbit hole last night that ended with us basically weeping at how good it is

I really hate that expression. "Butt rock". It is dumb and it makes anyone who uses it sound dumber as a result. It grinds on my nerves like a stone.

When I was in middle school I used to go to a sleepaway camp, and in 2002 one of my cabin counselors was on the Ozzfest street team. One day he came back to the cabin pretty late and gave each one of us in the cabin two-song Seether sampler CDs and a Papa Roach sticker to go with it.

Back when Ozzfest gave nu-metal the time of day.

    And existed, I guess.

  24. I was introduced to Seether through 1080 Avalanche, and it's making me remember how much the soundtrack slapped.
