As a Twins fan, I'm elated that the deal is only six years. Obviously, it could be longer with the vesting options but that means you got some useful, healthy years out of him.

I'm a little conflicted that he has been using the organization for the past year and it's obvious Minnesota has never been his first option, but then again, there are probably many examples where free agents don't go to their first or second options--it's just never this public.

Overall, not sure how much this moves the needle in terms of them being a contender. The rotation looks a little better than last year, but the bullpen is a huge question mark and who knows what we get out of Buxton and Gallo.

I'd be curious to know what "passing" the physical would have entailed, considering how the Giants and Mets evaluated this most recent one. I can absolutely understand why he wouldn't put it back in the club's hands each year to potentially dump him based on physicals that inevitably would have had some subjectivity.
