Cool, Sun Eater was actually a legit album. The bass playing was incredible on that one

 

I feel like this got announced before the pandemic got started but since the past three years have been so crazy, maybe it was sooner than that? Either way, hell yeah! That band really had something going with Sun Eater so hopefully the new one builds off of that.

 

Doom was pretty dope back in the day

 

They got a lot of undeserved shit back when imo, like Genesis was a really cool album but all the neckbeards decided to just gatekeep instead

Damn I completely forgot that Negative Plane record came out this year.

 

listened to that Imperial Triumphant album today. Idk what it is but I just can't do that kind of chaotic free jazz avant garde type stuff anymore. It was hard enough listening to Gorguts' Obscura years ago, I don't really want to subject myself to that style album again. Deathspell Omega, Portal, etc. Guess I'm just not into it anymore

THRASH METAL THVRSDAY YOU BEAUTIFUL FOOLS

Had a nice 5 day weekend leading to a 3 day work week for me, which means the day is upon us again.

First up, some Finnish black/thrash metal from one of my favorite releases from 2017. FFO Nifelheim, Deströyer 666:

Next we have Korrosive, a Canadian thrash band that released an album in 2022. The archives lists their lyrical themes as "80's action movies, violence, Armageddon." Not sure if they're talking about the Bruce Willis space movie but either way it rules, FFO just really straightforward thrash and sick album art:

Lastly we have Vexovoid, Italian prog thrash in the vein of Voivod and that other thrash band that starts with a 'V' that shall go unnamed. The hard riffs start around the 1:30 mark here. If you want more space themed thrash (and who doesn't) look no further:

The End Complete and World Demise are two of their best, so I’d say yes

 

I'm almost done with the book "Turned Inside Out: the Official Story of Obituary"
The new album comes out next week, definitely do a discography run
The only thing is that a few releases are missing from streaming

 

oh shit Obsequiae and 20BS are teasing something for Friday, seems to be a new melodic death metal band called Majesties that I think Tanner from Obsequiae is featured on. There's only like a 20 sec clip on their Instagram but it sounds like old In Flames.

 

All Obituary is genuinely pretty good, but the real problem is Slowly We Rot and Cause for Death are all timers that will probably never be topped.
