It is uncanny how well Jerking Off the Sky (I still hate typing this) instrumentally would've fit on Manchester Orchestra's last album.

Not a fan of the opener - at least not for this album, it just doesn't work as part of the collective whole IMO - but the rest of this is pretty good, some lyrical clunkers aside.

 

the ending track loops perfectly into the beginning track

 

I don't hear that at all and they still don't sonically make any sense together to me, but to each their own.

 

Finally able to give this a spin. Loved my first listen!

Not really clicking with this yet but I’m gonna spend a lot more time with it because they've earned that from me. Right now I think a lot of these songs are more interesting than exciting.

 

I think demitasse could be the opener if it was remixed / remastered to fit the rest of the album but not quite as is.

 

Listening for the first time today.

Jerking Off the Sky is swanky as shit. goodness.

Also Funeral Plant with straight menzos vibes. Loving the sound of this album so much.

 

Blood in the Milk through the last track is a fantastic stretch of songs. Not as into the rest of the album though excluding track 2.

 

The delivery of “they thought I was wild and free but i was angry and lonelyyyyyy” is very Conor oberst.

I think of it as a spiritual successor to Bed Sores. Not sure if it's the placement on the album or something else, but they remind me of each other.

 

Haven’t listened - I tend not to listen to music made by people who associate with rape apologists :)

 

Estate Sale > Woods II > How Did It Used to Be So Easy? is an unreal way to end this album. Falling more in love with this with each listen. It would already be on my top 10 most listened to albums if it was still 2022, lol.
