Man, Neal and Laura are such shitty parents in The Santa Clause. How dare they tell a kid that he can't have an imagination? And on what planet is that little boy "too old" to believe in Santa? He's super young

Watched this last night for the first time in a while and couldn’t believe how terrible everyone is. Neal slamming on the horn while Laura’s dropping Charlie really got me

Finished The Santa Clauses today - kids and I liked it a lot. Some funny jokes that clearly went above their head, and even made our heads turn a bit, but fun overall. Will be interesting to see if there's a second season.

Watched Christmas Class Reunion on Hallmark earlier today... that was actually a fun watch.

Oh man seriously, such a dick move haha.

Their reasoning for hating Santa is so selfish too. "I didn't get a board game and a whistle, so fuck Santa Claus". Like, there are starving kids in the world who got nothing for Christmas but go off lol

I was trying so hard to just shut my brain off. That being said, “plain milk’s fine” is such a perfect line read

    Die rad.

Just watched Violent Night and enjoyed the hell out of it. The callbacks from a certain Christmas movie and also that entire shed scene were epic. Need a sequel

Loved The Santa Clauses TV show. Was actually shocked at how well it was done. Wanted more episodes. Better than the 2nd and 3rd film. I remember being in like 6th grade when my parents took me to the theater to see the original. Super nostalgic for me.

I don't even remember anything about the second film, and don't think I've even watched the third, so Mrs. Claus and the other kids threw me into a loop.

Really, the first one’s the only good one. When Santa and the elves are basically forcing the actress from Lost to marry Santa, it’s like “Hmm…maybe we were sending the wrong message to kids about love.”

I had never seen the second or third until this year when we watched them with the kids so they could see the new show and, yeah, rough stuff. I think what struck me the most was just how neutered the scripts were compared to the first. A lot of the jokes in the first are legitimately very funny and often fairly on brand for 90s Tim Allen. The sequels though…they lean way too hard into the holly jolly nature of Santa Claus to the point that Scott Calvin kind of disappears entirely. For me I think the biggest mistake they make is the same mistake Christmas Chronicles 2 makes. By switching the primary setting to the North Pole and centering the narrative around its mythology you lose what made the first films in both series work. Grounding the story in the real world with normal, human characters is more relatable and less sickly sweet.

Agreed. To go along with, Christmas Chronicles 2 was not good and very cheap looking, even by Netflix standards.

Alright, it's not quite time for Christmas movies, but do y'all have any movies you watch every November?

We like to do Hanksgiving and watch a bunch of Tom Hanks movies, as well as a bunch of rom coms, and stuff that gives fall vibes. Looking for some good recommendations for the latter.

  15. As always, if anyone wants access to my Christmas movies on Plex, DM me your email address.

I can't promise that it'll always be on or always be superb quality, but the offer's on the table at least haha.

I really only watch seasonal movies during the Halloween and Xmas season tbh

  17. For Thanksgiving, Planes Trains and Automobiles is a must at some point

My wife will usually throw on the Charlie Brown joint at some point

There’s a pretty bad rom com that has somehow made it onto the screen for the last couple of years called Friendsgiving that I started out hating and now have come around on in a weird way

If you want to keep the spooky stuff going, Kristy, Alien Abduction: Incident In Lake County, and Pilgrim will all fit the bill. YMMV on the camp though. Eli Roth has that new one out soon too but can’t remember what it’s called

Otherwise we somehow always watch Knives Out and The Silver Linings Playbook, which are really not Thanksgiving movies but we’ve decided they are for us lol

  18. I watch die hard while putting up the Christmas tree on Black Friday since it's a Christmas movie
