I can't wait to get done with work. It's a beautiful sunny, 70 degree day out today, going to put this on my phone and go for a walk and listen to this for the first time later.

ugh. going to miss these guys. and my final world tour date is already less than 2 months away.

i got into them somewhere around ocean avenue era. i don't remember much but in 7th or 8th grade music class, i picked to work on "believe" on a project.

after having at least 2 conflicts that prevented me from seeing them, i FINALLY got to see them on their co-headline run with new found glory. one of the craziest shows i've been to. i'm still a little bitter that i never got to see them with LPIII but oh well, they have been just so consistently good that i can't be that mad.

    final ranking:
    1. Ocean Ave
    2. WYTTSY
    3. Southern Air
    4. Paper Walls
    5. Yellowcard
    6. Lift A Sail

    7. Lights & Sounds
    8. One for the Kids

    9. Where We Stand.

    rip yc.

Soooo...I thanked Yellowcard for everything and Ryan Key and Yellowcard's Twitter account both liked my Tweet. I know it's totally off-topic, but it totally just sent me into super fan-girl mode

"Leave a Light On" is probably my favorite track on this album.
Tracks 2, 8, and 10 don't grab me at all. The rest is good, but not great.

That's interesting. "Fields and Fences" and "What Appears" are two of my favorite tracks, but going back with repeated listens, I think "Savior's Robes" is my favorite Yellowcard song ever.

How does a fan of this band not like Fields & Fences?

I'd say "Rest In Peace", "Got Yours", "A Place We Set Afire", "Leave a Light On", and "Savior's Robes" for me.

I feel like even now, I can say this is a FANTASTIC album. I really think it might be top 2 on my list. I'm going with, in order:
    1) Paper Walls
    2) Southern Air
    3) Yellowcard
    4) When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes
    5) Lift A Sail
    6) Lights And Sounds
    7) Ocean Avenue
    8) One For The Kids

But really, I have never even disliked a Yellowcard album. Even "Two Weeks From Twenty", which I've been quoted in the past as saying I don't particularly like, has grown on me with time.

    Favorite songs, just for fun:
    1) Savior's Robes
    2) Afraid
    3) Southern Air
    4) Paper Walls
    5) Only One
    6) Awakening
    7) Illuminate
    8) MSK
    9) Fields and Fences
    10) Ocean Avenue

This album cover is so sweet. I've had it as my phone background since it was announced and pretty much always forget that that's the cover.

Thats gotta be Will from Cartel doing the distorted yelling in "Got Yours", no?

Digitally preordered this thing like I have for the last 4 albums, but I'm happy I'll have something to listen to at the gym tonight. Looks like a much better reception to this album than to Lift a Sail! I went back through their discography the last couple of days and even though I don't think of that album as one of my favorites as a whole, I still get surprised about how much I like each song. It's a weird thing.

I also realized it's incredibly hard for me to rank their discography. Each record played a role in different eras of my life, and I like them all, so it's hard to say I like one better than the other. When I go back to listen to them, WYTTSY and Southern Air are my two go-to's (except that god awful "Here I am Alive")...but damned if I don't love me some Paper Walls and Lights and Sounds. I would say I definitely put Lift a Sail and Ocean Avenue below those others, but it's because they are so different for me. Ocean Avenue just doesn't quite hold up now that I'm older, but it's also THE record that made their career so oh well... Lift a Sail is just a little on the soft side for me. Super sad that this will be the last time I get to experience a new Yellowcard album.

Just finished listening to the new album. Look, I'm happy Yellowcard did what they wanted to and fulfilled their artistic vision for their final two albums, but it's just not for me. There are a few good tracks (Got Yours and Savior's Robe are phenomenal) on each album that are mixed in with a majority of songs that are stale, flat, and come off as lifeless. These songs have no arc. Snooze fest. Good for them because they did what they wanted and ended on their own terms, and I'm sure others will have differing opinions, but I'll never go back to LAS or S/T. Ocean Avenue through Southern Air is still incredible though.

I was thinking about my favorite songs from the band. I could never write and maintain a list, but Afraid is one I absolutely love and don't hear thrown as a top song by many. Nice list.

Kind of agree. Might grow on me and I don't think it's bad but on first listen it didn't really do anything for me and I was never able to get into LaS.

These are seriously some of the most dynamic songs they've written and I don't understand one bit of that criticism
