Why make a sequel to Twister when Sharknado exists?

I bet it'll be focused on Bill and Jo's daughter, a recent atmospheric science grad, as she navigates the back roads of Oklahoma in search of those pesky twisters.

 

Disaster movies are the closest thing I have to a guilty pleasure so I'll probably end up seeing this

 

No Dusty or The Extreme.

 

I hope they understand while making this that the key to what made Twister a good movie wasn't the cool tornado scenes but it's depiction of the lives of quirky stormchasers.

They could have the most badass looking tornado ever depicted on film, but if the stormchaser parts aren't good the movie won't be good. That's the heart of the movie. Don't make the same mistakes as Jurassic World.

 

I had the thought.of "bring back Cary Elwes" as the villain!" then I remember he dies in the original. I need to watch Twister again apparently lol

 

I have no problem publicly admitting that Twister is within my top 10 films of all time.

 

It’ll definitely be this. And yeah like @Halitosis Jones said, they need to make us give a shit about the characters in order for this to be worthwhile. This is probably a bad comparison, but Independence Day - while, yes, being a silly 90s Roland Emmerich romp - cashed in that summer because the characters were likable while, yeah, aliens blew up national monuments. Then twenty years later they finally make that sequel all us darn Millennials will just love, they told themselves, and now…does anyone even remember that? That’s definitely a Movie That Didn’t Actually Happen.
