Obviously the NFL is not nearly as ubiquitous outside the US, but this statement still caught me off guard, haha. Probably the two greatest quarterbacks of the last twenty-to-thirty years after Tom Brady.

Truthfully, it’s almost non existent in Europe beyond a very niche audience.

I have watched the Super Bowl like 3/4 of the last years, and started watching semi regularly this year, but seriously 999/1000 Europeans would have never heard of these guys or couldn’t pick them out of a line up lol.

It’s crazy how different the sports landscape is either side of the Atlantic lol.

can’t speak to legends of history but this is essentially how I’ve always felt re: Messi and Ronaldo

Both undeniably incredible: Ronaldo is a freak athlete while Messi seems to experience time and space differently than everyone else. But considering output, it doesn’t feel particularly close

Ah the old pick a topic that's been debated forever and then pick a side and say 'well there's an obvious answer, it's not even close'. Never mind the fact that it literally has always been debated, and always be debated, but sure, go ahead and say 'there's not enough for a reasonable debate, let's just end it'.

I am picking apart the tweet and not you.

Everyone can have an opinion, but I'm getting tired in all types of arguments of people saying 'the debate can end. There's an obvious answer'. If there was one, we'd have it by now, and we'd have stopped arguing about it.

  6. I mean, for me it hasn’t been a debate Messi’s entire career lol he’s always been ahead of Ronaldo.

Not sure how much crossover there is, but I’d really encourage everyone to take some time to look at what’s happening in women’s’ soccer right now. The NWSLPA investigative report just came out. Several of these coaches and owners are also present in the men’s’ game

Not sure a Serbian and Xhaka in the team is a great idea…

  9. Arsenal being linked to every player isn’t fun

It won’t be fun for me when we only sign a french 12 year old, and a 34 year old centre back on loan.

Worse for us when we don’t sign anyone.

you’re both interested in one American winger on loan

Is the extensive ESPNFC article the best one to read about this or is there a better one?

I always lean towards Meg Linehan from The Athletic. Steph Yang as well. Meg broke the Paul Riley story last year. Would also look for Claire Watkins and Jenna Tonelli. Claire is at Just Women’s Sports and Jenna is at The Equalizer. Jonathan Tannenwald is a real tool but his reporting through all of this has been good. ESPN and the Fox Sports brands all tend to only swoop in when something “notable” happens so they’re probably an okay place to start but NWSL specific journalists will have the depth. Can also recommend Jeff Kassouf, Meredith Cash, Theo Lloyd-Hughes, Molly Hensley-Clancy, Susie Rantz, and Sandra Herrera. On the podcast front, Diaspora United and Shea Butter FC will most likely be coming out with episodes (and already have discussed in previous episodes) discussing everything with a lens focusing on the impact towards Black women and women of color in the league.

I know The Athletic usually has a livestream blog type page for these types of things, I don’t recall seeing one yet but I know The Equalizer has one going

Actually just saw that Jeff Kassouf wrote that ESPNFC report so that should be thorough

If this is about Pulisic, I really hope we’re aiming higher than that lol.

Mudryk would be a fantastic choice out wide but we have ESR coming back start of next year so I kind of wonder if we wait until summer for him, and go for a striker to cover in Jesus’ absence. A midfielder would be nice of course. Partey can’t be relied upon to stay fit and, despite being one of the best in the league, I have obvious issues with him.

quoted my wrong post, but yeah. Seeing a lot of chatter about him to you two and Newcastle

Oh boy, a horrible thought has just crossed my mind.

United up for sale and possibly getting new owners? Almost universally great. But what if the new owners want their own "guy" and sack EtH? It happens so regularly after a takeover, I'd be devastated.

    hmmm

    Reinstates Ronaldo, makes him player-manager.

Yeah I’ve had that thought for a while. Or the new owner butting heads with ETH trying to sign star players that don’t fit his playing style.

it seems like Arnold and ETH both know exactly what’s going on but you never really know.

Yeah the quotes today seemed to indicate there's been at least some communication between the two and that they're comfortable with it. EtH is 100% the type that would walk if he feels he's losing control of the sporting project, I just hope we don't get an idiot owner that can't see the positives.

  25. Dumfries being linked to all these big clubs has to be made up leaks by his agent, right? He doesn’t appear to be that good yet the papers would make you believe there’s a giant bidding war for him.
