For the same reasons @oakhurst mentioned, I’ll be playing it, but I’ll be buying a used copy.

 

That’s fine but I don’t know the point in going around proclaiming you will be buying and/or playing when trans people will see you saying that and from my conversations with close friends and tweets from activists it is really upsetting to them that it’s even something to consider for people and this (poorly written) fictional world is more important than their very real and very human feelings of pain that the entire Harry Potter franchise now brings them and whether you buy or play it used you’re still supporting it. I initially thought who cares jk Rowling is already rich this doesn’t make a difference but I’ve been educated on how that’s not only incorrect but not really even the point. Just something I would consider before going around publicly announcing support for the game.

 

It’s just wild to me to feel the need to proclaim you’re buying it no matter what in response to a Twitter thread talking about how it’s story is pro slavery

Why even bring it up in the thread if people can’t show support for a game they’re looking forward to? It’s already been confirmed Rowling had no involvement in the game. If you want to turn the thread into solely a thread where people can only bash a game then make a thread specifically for that. Make a Hogwarts Legacy boycott Thread and I promise I won’t go in there to say I’m going to buy it or show excitement for the game.

Like a lot of things on twitter, I'm going to make my own adjustment on what the story actually is. It wouldn't be the first time that someone let their personal views/biases influence the reading of a fictional story in an incorrect way.

 

You sure are hating the feedback for someone who doesn't care what any of us think

The whole "I should be able to say x" doesn't make you immune to people responding to what you say negatively, especially when the action of saying you want this game and don't care what others think is what's saying the most about you

 

If you read what I said I support anyone bashing or showing excitement for the game in a general game thread like the one we’re in. I said if people don’t want to see people supporting the game then they should make a thread specifically for only people who bash it.

 

No, if you don't want to be bashed you should consider why you're being bashed or take the hits. We won't coddle you and cater to you so you can say bad things especially in the way you are in response to a thread about the game's depiction of slavery lmao.

 

There are so many other places you can go to discuss that game if you so desperately need to. If you’re getting mad that you’re getting pushback, maybe take a second to understand why people are coming down so harshly on it.

 

Engage with the criticism instead of dismissing it outright. Why is playing the game and voicing support for the game more important to you than the feelings of our trans friends some of whom post in this thread? Genuine question. I didn’t say you can’t voice your support, I’m questioning why you would even want to in the first place. It’s weird. Your response has been entirely predictable and defensive for no reason.
