  1. Wait what ...

If you're passive and see it as a function of democracy at work, that we'll just wait for the next election, then i would argue that is precisely what you're doing.

Sandy Hook wasn't considered terrorism was it? It makes no sense

  5. The two don't go hand in hand. The act of admitting that 2 is bigger than 1 is not intrinsically tied to a passive reaction or waiting until the next election.

Yeah the most effective thing to do on a policy level would probably be to push your state officials on passing laws in opposition of whatever Trump does federally and they will eventually make their way to the courts.

Problem is, Trump would be filling SCOTUS seats.......lol

Who said anything about being passive though? You can accept Trump winning as "democracy at work" (i.e. 'accept the results') while still being doubly motivated to ensure he causes as little damage as possible.

  8. one of the first things i learned in high school statistics was that if "self selection bias" was at play the poll was invalid. lol

  9. This is what I'm saying. If Trump wins and the horrible hate crimes increase like they have in Baltimore, are Clinton voters ready to go physically prevent that from happening? What about when the police or federal forces try to prevent you?

This is the question though! You're motivated, im motivated, presumably close to half the country is as well - how do we mitigate or prevent that damage once he's elevated?

Hillary pivoted right from her rhetoric in the primaries. That's even reflected in the meaningless committee platform when all of her delegates opposed Sanders' stances on fracking and TPP. It's even reflected in the correspondence within the DNC. Did you see her comments last month completely backing off of her faux-condemnation of Wall Street?

Berniecats have been overwhelmingly opposed by the DNC establishment, even at the local level. Who was saying Sanders getting nominated was the only issue at stake, anyways? That's a straw man

Hillary's intended meaning was exactly that, though. I suspect that is true of the liberals that have been using marginalized people as leverage in this election.

Agreed. At this point I don't have an answer, I just hope it is a question we do not have to answer. But if we do have to answer it... definitely gonna have to read more.

Are you going to protest? Revolt? Riot? If Trump is such a danger, what is the proposal if he is elected? Is it strictly electoral politics?

this is, honestly, a fine answer. it is okay to not be sure how to respond when democratic institutions that you have believed in your entire life allow for a fascist to take power, especially if he is elected by family members or friends or acquaintances; that is a fundamental upheaval and i understand and respect being uncertain in the face of that.

I'm not gonna sit on my hands and do nothing. But I can't say what I would do. Depends a lot on what Trump actually does.

Also depends on where rallies take place. I can't abandon students for a few days to go to a protest in, say, LA. But protests or rallies in my city or in, say, Philly? Sure, I'll probably be there.

  18. basically what we're hoping for is anything more than voting and/or the first 3 joke responses i made to the question

Nah, voting is pretty important and, if more young people did it, it would lessen the need for other actions.

I don't think he's saying voting isn't important. I think he's just saying the responsibility doesn't end there

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

Based on the decisions Trump has made with his campaign staff, it terrifies me even more on who he would choose as his Presidential Staff (not that he's going to win) but I thought it fun to imagine his Cabinet? Feel free to insert hilarious answer below:

    Dept. of State-
    Dept of the Treasury-
    Dept of Defense-
    Dept of Justice-
    Dept of the Interior-
    Dept of Agriculture-
    Dept of Commerce-
    Dept of Labor-
Dept of Health and Human Services-
Dept of Housing and Urban Development-
    Dept of Transportation-
    Energy-
    Education-
    Veterans Affairs-
    Homeland Security-

Thought this could be entertaining, but does have the possibility of being a stupid idea...but still looking forward to responses.

Yeah but getting involved in electoral politics is important, too. That's usually where the divide exists.
