Yeah looks like there’s a video too where he is in fact telling the crowd to chill

idk I would consider Senses Fail’s Still Searching and LINAWR to be post-hardcore and I think the mixing sounds much better for the guitars there..

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Kinda surprised by that in Toronto specifically where crowds are usually very chill / borderline dead

FWIW I saw Anthony on the most recent Sao tour a few weeks back and he checked on the crowd multiple times.

I’m sure sometimes he can get lost in the energy of a show and not notice things as much?

Yeah he always is very aware of the safety of the crowd I feel so maybe OP just felt like he didn’t care

yeah its hard to blame a band for raucous behavior at a venue one because its physically impossible and two because they are preoccupied giving a performance. its on the venue to be equipped to get things under control, or theyll be shut down.

also, i cant imagine being 4’ 11” and being stupid enough to get myself between a wall and a large crowd. at a rock concert no less. damn thats dumb. glad theyre ok.

I’m 6’1. 220. And can’t hang that close to the front anymore. I’d be terrified if I was sub 5ft against a metal rail. Hope everyone’s OK

the LSD show was super intense. No breaks between songs and the whole place was moving for an hour straight

Definitely a grower, but yeah the production isn't my favorite, never really been huge on the wall of sounds style where everything sounds mixed at equal levels

same exact feelings here. sigh. I get too nostalgic around this time and music is my main vehicle for it lol. I have entire playlists broken up into chunks of my formidable years and all the songs I loved on them. That’s like 90% of my listening. The ages 17-19 playlist has every circa album up to and including BSN and Appendage on it.

some weird songs that only really apply to me might pop up (I think there’s an Enrique and pitbull song that reminds me of senior homecoming lmao) but for sure let me pull the links for all of them! It’s by age and I’m 30 now. Not necessarily broken up by when stuff came out just when I heard it.

Also trigger warning: you may come across some bands with serious allegations against them, this is for my own personal listening and I have no problem sharing but want to point it out just in case that’ll bother anyone.

Edit: the last one won’t load for me which is the 17-19 one you asked for lol can you see it?

Lmfao having grown up with fuse tv always on in the house and then later discovering absolute punk at 16 shaped my adolescent music taste into something very specific that only people on this website and my brother would understand

It's a difficult line to walk, because ultimately it is victim blaming, but I do find it frustrating that people think the front row at the barrier is some safe haven. At club shows like these, you are gonna feel the squeeze, and if you can't physically keep space, then it's dangerous. At less than 5 foot it does seem an ill-advised thing to do.

The crowd at rock shows can often be a dichotomy. You'll have angry dudes looking to hurt people, and you'll have probably very nice, gentle people, like the OP who just love the music and the magic of a show. That combination can lead to ugly scenes where people can get hurt who aren't trying to get involved, but I'm not sure how you solve that without having rules around moshing/pits, or a specific section etc.

Glad the band will be more aware of course.

In fairness on their last tours (spanning like 2 years), of the few times they played any song from VW, Economic Hitman is the only song they played from it.

Interestingly Anthony's least favourite was VW because of how disconnected he was from the band, wanting to record without them etc. Obviously that doesn't mean anything as to whether its subjectively good though. Rank Your Records: Anthony Green Gets Personal About Circa Survive's Six Albums

He also put Descensus number two... Ha. A lot of filler on that album but Sovereign Circle/Nesting Dolls/Child of the Desert are great, and would for sure be in my top 20 Circa songs.

call it victim blaming, whatever, but when you try and get barricade and stay barricade at a hardcore show you should know what you’re getting into. I’ve had horrible experiences and instead of blasting bands on twitter I just stopped trying to get as close as possible because guess what (the further back you are the better it sounds!!!!!! at least up until you get to the bar)

I can't even imagine being under 5 foot and think being at the barricade is a good idea. Maybe it's because I'm older but I accept that I would get hurt near the front or in the pit and so I abstain.

That said, I wish people wouldn't be assholes at shows. Moshing is fine. People trying the sideways whole crowd pushes are the scum of the earth.

    I don't disagree, although I don't think I'd call it a hardcore show! They're MCR adjacent genre and fan-wise.

Lol? They play post-hardcore which is an offshoot of hardcore music?
