Camera situation 100% happened. The pictures were all over the internet. Super gross, haha.

 

I definitely remember the camera pictures as they were posted on the defunct and cursed site Strikegently (I think it was spelt this way?) back in 2009 and, I think, discussed on ap.net. I very vividly remember some of them too.

Also, I thankfully don't remember this event happening.

 

I swear I was on Ap.net all the time back in the day and just missed this band altogether. Like I know I was all over the site in 2009 because it got me into Mean Everything To Nothing and other 09 classics. But for whatever reason I never got swept up in TDS - never checked out RFTS, never followed any of the drama.

I finally got into the band with Mother Nature and now I love their music, and I thought AJ was super nice and friendly when I met him. Very glad that I missed the drama then, but now it's kind of like oh okay this is the kinda shit everyone talks about haha.

 

I mean, I think most people who have met AJ say he is nice. He was nice when I met him, too. Nice people can make mistakes or bad choices in other aspects of life. He pops into this thread sometimes. Or at least once. I can’t remember if it was more or not.

Anyway, I hope everyone is safe and they figure it out with whatever is going down.

 

I'm sure people have had really great interactions with him, but I met AJ at the merch table on the Mother Nature tour in London in 2019, and had expressed to him how much their music meant to me and how that record in particular had been helping me through an incredibly dark time. Honestly, he was so fucked up on whatever he was on that he didn't listen to a single word I said, so that really sucked

I’ve hung with them a few times and have never seen anything creepy. They’ve always been really cool guys but my lord they like to get fucked up lol.

 

I was on another music forum over a decade ago and this situation with TDS was brought up when it happened. I have very scarce details as it was a super long time ago, but this and Moose Blood are two separate things which both happened.

 

Someone in here said this ages ago, but yeah: TDS is the band that I love the most who's persona I like the least.

 

Touring the world in a band, partying and living his best life. Fair play to him.

 

I've met AJ twice and he was exceptionally open and friendly.

 

Yeah I'm not suggesting that him being nice to me that once, or even in general, means he couldn't be at fault with whatever is going on. But that experience was enough for me to think it's unfair for people to jump to conclusions, especially about the kind of actions that would result in the band being 'cancelled'.
Hopefully it's nothing that extreme and the band can bounce back yet again, especially since they have another album in the chamber already.

 

Also this is related albeit secondary in importance, but the partying definitely affected the creation of Coming Home. I mean maybe it was the same for Mother Nature etc as well but Coming Home (whilst still pretty good) seemed less inspired in my view. And that video posted earlier where the band goes through Coming Home track by track made it seem as though the band messed around in the studio and by like 4am they were absolutely stoned out of their minds and thought whatever they had come up with at that point was suddenly amazing. Like I really like Meet Me In The Morning so I was keen to see how they came up with it. And the explanation was basically "this is another one where we got fucked up and thought it sounded cool and so then I walked home from the studio as the sun came up and so I wrote lyrics about it being the morning" and I just thought well congrats to them for being so talented that still came out pretty well but yeah I can see why this record doesn't have many bridges etc.

 

From a drummers standpoint, I always felt Ben was awesome. Especially on record. Super inventive. Live he was def good, But sometimes he would drag the beat a bit, meaning hit the beat a tad behind the beat. Christian had a more on top of the beat style which gave a very driving feeling live. I really enjoyed his playing in that regard. Hope they pick a killer replacement. I can't imagine the whirlwind of joining TDS earlier this year, and meeting them the first day of recording. Then doing 2 albums and 2 tours. And then no longer be in the band

 

aye bruh I'm honestly super humbled by your keen ear. its def no secret I have a tendency to sit back a bit in the pocket and rush my fills as well haha. always had a goofy playing style. just wanted to hop on n say thanks for recognizing my writers voice as a player.

 

Suddenly a wild Mangus appears! Lol.. yeah man i could always tell it def was coming from a masterful control. Like you were able to be totally in tempo but choose to smack the snare a tad behind at times. It gave some awesome dramatic effect. Especially with some stick twirls before haha.. we miss your inventive ways around these parts. Have been enjoying Dim btw! Keep crushing it

I honestly also have a very hard time keeping track of who is actively in the band besides AJ.

 

I do too, apparently.

 

I know the band basically centers on AJ and Matt at this point

 

I know you can't go with wiki always, but strangely it had all 4 members recently under band members. Now it's back to Matt and AJ and the other members listed under "touring" members

 

I mean what did AJ or Matt do at this point. Really would like to know if it’s worth supporting this band anymore
