Damn these dudes are tight live

 

I have listened to maybe one Rammstein album in full but put on a top 3 show I have ever seen in person, and would happily shell out $100+ to see them again

I saw them in 2001 with Slipknot and System of a Down. Literally thousands of shows later and it still remains one of the best shows I've ever seen.

 

I forgot they were on that tour.

 

Yeah I saw them back in like 2012 or whatever; one of the craziest shows I've ever been to. Got front row on the railing, which might not have been the best choice, as the flames used on stage felt like they were going to scald my face off; literally had to put my arm over my face it was so hot. Then the moment where the singer Till rode out on stage sitting on a giant penis and squirting white foam into the crowd. Wild

 

I caught Rammstein just this past tour when they hit Chicago. My dumb ass neglected to realize I would be standing for the entire thing after a day of walking in the city wearing platform combat heels.

I wasn't the same for a week.

Both because the concert was fucking dope, and because I couldn't fucking walk for shit. LMAO.

 

Spite were the band I got my first-ever pit injury to the sound of. Always affection for this band thanks to that, LOL

 

Also the riff on Sonne is fucking stupid hard and it knocks my head off every time I hear it. So fucking simple but it's easily in my top ten favorite riffs of all time. Up there with that one Trap Them song from right before they split.

I'm not sure symphonic metal is a genre that gets discussed a lot in this thread, if ever, but does anyone have recommendations for stuff like Within Temptation? They're co-headlining with Evanescence and I was already itching to catch the latter for nostalgia's sake. I'm liking the former's albums a lot as well so I might get a ticket after all. I know both are on the poppiest side but I'm interested in hearing more, with or without pop influences.

I've listened to Once by Nightwish back in the mid 00s and went through The Gathering's discography a decade ago, but I think that's it.

 

Blind Guardian is pretty dope.

The Gathering are one of my faves but most of their discography is more on an alt-rock / space-rock tip. Definitely check out the pre Once Nightwish albums - they rock surprisingly hard at times
