I will be okay. everything Supporter

I can get not liking this, but calling it one note feels like you’re listening to a different record imo

This is mid-2000's emo in the best way.

Frank Iero's style is all over this thing.

I like this a fair bit but Permanent Rebellion is easily the standout on first listen.

wish I liked AG's vocals at all cause the music is great fun

  5. This is definitely good, but I think I'm in the wrong headspace this morning (especially after listening to the Smidley record). Excited to spend more time with it!

This is exactly what I wanted it to be when it was announced. Hitting all the right spots for me. Love it.

    I don’t dislike the mix.
there are just moments where it shifts and AG is way more at the front and he sounds great… which makes me wonder why he is way in the back on other parts of the record.

either way. Really liking this. Wish I wasn’t on calls all day so I could blast this

    Ok. 3 listens today.

I really like it. I do wish there were more upbeat tracks like Permenant Rebellion though.

Musically, this is ultimately a watered down version of Saosin and Circa Survive. That’s not a bad thing at all because it lets the songs breathe a little more. So, technicality aside, this album definitely delivers for a supergroup. Super happy to have it!

All sorts of mixed impressions after a couple distracted listens. It's far from perfect, but I don't really agree with a couple criticisms above: that it's one-note, or a watered down Circa/Sao. If anything, as a Circa/Sao/Coheed fan who couldn't care less about MCR, I felt like the latter's influence is maybe too prominent.

I also hear sufficient track-to-track variability in melodic approaches and tempo/mood. The mix leaves something to be desired, for sure. And AG just doesn't sound that great to me on this overall - shrill at times, hoarse at others. Late-era AG is such an enigma... he's clearly still capable of great performances, but erratically leans into and out of vocal tendencies I find grating (and I'm sure production choices account for some of that).

I absolutely love AG, and I love a lot of the LSD tracks I've heard so far, but I agree with that. Its hard to pin down but it feels like he's going through the motions on his vocal performances now. It's hard to describe, but his choices and delivery in old Circa & Sao were more unique. Modern day AG is a bit more gruff (in AG terms..) and his clean & dirty/scream vocals are a bit more blurred. It could be production choices too, for sure. I can't really pinpoint what it is, but I do think the wear & tear/aging of his voice shows - in particular if you listen to old songs like Stop The Fucking Car, Translating The Name, there's a certain angelic-ness to it, which doesn't pull through in newer stuff. I could be chatting shit anyway.

Maybe its just me getting old and used to AG's voice, but his vocal was so unique when he was starting out. People would be like "what, that's a guy?", but these days I think you'd hear that less about newer stuff. Probably just limiting his range a bit too, of course.

Obviously on this LSD release, his vocals sit back in the mix a bit more anyway, so that doesn't "help", although I still love the first 3 songs so far. Like love a lot.

  13. Really feel like the blurring of the line between clean are dirty vocals on this album is a feature, not a bug. He sounds great and the vocal performances stuck out as particularly fiery and emotional imo.

I feel that Anthony’s been sliding in that direction for a bit and I’ve been enjoying the new style. My issues with the album aren’t really related to him anyway

this is such a powerful album. so good to hear Anthony still in a band like this. his lyrics are crushing me. also the bass tone is identical to the amulets bass tone which was so killer it hurt. such a good outing that’s obviously more than the sum of its parts. hope they keep this project going.

because it’s actually a dynamic mix where things shift depending on what the song calls for, too many mixes are static as shit these days I’m stoked when I actually hear levels moving and things getting shifted around in the audio space

I’ve listened four times since yesterday and each listen is better than the last. Very much digging it. Weirdly, I think the closer is the only one I’m not sold on yet.
