Nobody said anybody is coming to see Bored To Death over Tom's hits lol. Mark literally responded to a question about those albums and said they're acknowledging the whole discography. Safe assumption that probably counts in the song I still hear played at the gym lol

Maybe Tom refuses to play it. Wouldn't shock me of course. Up to Mark? I'm sure it's going to be there.

 

I'd happily let them replace Tom with Matt in a heartbeat if it meant that they'd play Nine front to back. Honestly.

But I'd also happily let them replace Matt with Tom if it meant that they'd play Dude Ranch front to back.

 

Tom will take a break from blink again at some point lol

 

Mark says they’ll play from every era but Mark has said lots of things they didn’t do, like Rabbit Hole haha

 

i blame the internet for that one. and i will be bad at the internet forevermore because of it! that's a top 10 (if not 5) song from the Matt era, and "fans" shit on it immediately for some stupid ass reason.

 

Rabbit Hole is solid if not one of my faves. I love Matt's yells at the end of that one

 

I think it's pretty naive to think they'd skip over a 7-year chunk of their song output. Even for just 1 song.

i imagine they'll play it, but i don't think they HAAAAVE to play it. if they gave the crowd the choice of either "bored to death" or "aliens exist", you know 99% of the crowd is going to choose "aliens exist." i think the band probably knows that too.

 

The more I listen to it the more I realize edging would sound great as a nickelodeon kids show theme song. Just change the lyrics a bit.

Remember when John Nolan came back to Taking Back Sunday and people thought they would never play songs from Louder Now? Their platinum selling album that spawned their two biggest hits? lol

Time will tell. My expectation? This tour is cashing in on nostalgia and their legacy. Bored to Death was a huge single and their most successful since 2003. Everyone in those rooms know the song, and while they probably aren't DYING to hear it played, would certainly be jumping and singing along when (if) it's played. But Nine? That album came and went and I'm sure most of the casual listeners dont even know it exists. I'm not expecting anything played from that album.

Just a small case study, but I'm going to the Brooklyn show with 9 other people. 8 of them have never heard a song from Nine, and the 9th person only heard Darkside. And they all consider Blink as one of their favorite bands lol

 

I'd still like to know how many people showed up to tours between 2016-19 and had no idea Tom was gone.

 

Who ever said this? I don't think anyone ever said or expected TBS to not play WYWTB or LN songs when John returned. The band took off without John and became way bigger without John. I don't think the two scenarios are even remotely comparable, especially considering John was only on 1 of the 4 albums by the time he returned.

I think I said something similar - there is definitely something that lends itself to it. Not sure if it’s the percussion or what. But the lyric “Whatcha say? Wanna play?” literally sounds lifted from a kid tv show song..

 

i hung out with some friends last night that loved blink 182 in middle/high school and 2 of the 3 had no idea they put out albums with matt

 

The overwhelming majority of people at these shows will know Bored to Death. Seems pretty strange to think otherwise
