Longer discussion but I wonder if even festivals like Coachella will struggle moving forward. I think stuff like WWWY and all these fests that cater to specific genre interests are really the way of the future.

 

i think it's probably too soon to make a guess of that.

Nah, once someone goes to one of these genre specific fests then experiences a Coachella, Bonnaroo, or Electric Forest it truly becomes eye opening how much better the amenities and production are.

Nothing against WWWY but a fest in a former parking lot with minimal infrastructure is nothing compared to seeing the level of stage/sound production at a major multi genre festival.

I think festival culture is it's own thing removed from broader concert culture and music fandom. The bread-and-butter of Coachella, Lolla, ACL, etc. was never the average, working class music fan: they'll be spending far less to see a few of their favorite artists in clubs and arenas in their hometown. The festival circuit always appealed to yuppies and celebrities who know about 5 headliners, but have enough cash to buy the ticket to brag about going. Festival tickets are already a luxury product, the middle class isn't enough of their demographic for them to feel the impact when it narrows.

I do now wonder if the 3am est is the tour announcement but it would be really weird to drop a tour announcement when 95% of the country and her fan base is sleeping

 

If the 3am announcement isn’t the tour maybe she drops it on Fallon next week tho 11 pm is kinda late. Idk maybe it’s coming tomorrow sometime or is coming tonight at midnight when the Album drops
