    Russian Circles is another one of my favorites. I know they get lumped in with post rock bands, but they’ve always struck me as much more of a metal band than a rock band

    Russian Circles is 100% post metal. And speaking of post metal ive been listening to this album by Dirge a lot lately and its such a good example of how hea y and emotional the genre can be

    I used to be into the instrumental stuff but I can never dive into an album like I used to. Pelican is the one band that stuck around for me.

    Nice writeup. The End of Heartache is right up there in terms of the 3-5 albums that crossed me over into harder music. Still a fun listen to this day.

    I've seen a lot of hype about the Wild Pink album, I'll give that one a go

    tbf this isn’t the new wild pink - it’s two albums ago, just my favorite of theirs. the new one is good too, a bit noisier/more chaotic in the back half
