Finally revisited this album for my second listen and I think it’s actually good. I definitely found myself enjoying it more than I did on my first listen, but I still can’t help but feel like it’s a step down from Sister Cities and I don’t find many songs standing out to me as much as I do on some of their earlier albums. With that said, Songs About Death rules. That one is easily the highlight for me.

Overall, here is where I’m at with their discography at the moment:

    Sister Cities
    Suburbia
    TGG
    Hum
    NCTH
    The Upsides

Anyone in the UK received their deluxe vinyl of this? I'm pretty sure Evri have lost mine and it's never going to arrive :verysad:

extremely long time lurker (AP.net days) and first time poster here, i can't believe i locked down this username. haha.

it's always hard to know when you're still living in the midst of the moment, but i feel like this album will give me the same feelings looking back on this period of my life as TGG does for 2013-2015. if that makes sense. just a beautiful record that hit at exactly the right time for me.

I just relistened to NCTH today start to finish for first time in forever and need to reassess how I rank their music because man that albums slaps more than I remembered. Some lows, but dang so many highs.

  12. Some weeeeeird choices in that setlist, interested in seeing if they mix it up

Interesting set choices. Was hoping for basically all the Hum songs they didn’t play. Seems like they are playing some deep cuts which I respect

Dan made a comment before they played Ernest Hemingway that sometimes they play new songs and the crowd isn’t familiar with them yet and then they think we hate that song lol. So then it’s years and years before they play them again. I think they’ll break out the brand new stuff like Cardinals II, Paris, Doors I painted shut, you’re the reason etc on the Spring tour.

I figured they'd do Doors I Painted Shut and You're the Reason simply because they're so proud of them and the fan reaction for both has been so strong. Not surprised that it's Lost It and Old Friends, though. The first four singles were a total lock anyway.

Legit as close to a perfect setlist for me as I could ask.

TWY were awesome last night, not the best setlist but pretty much what I expected. Would have swapped Flowers and Kyoto for Doors and Reason. Or even anything pre NCTH but still great. The light show was awesome and they're still on top of their game

They sounded great, Dave messed up a little bit here and there but it was still great haha crowd wasn't as good as I hoped but man it was awesome to see them again. Can't wait to see them again hopefully in a smaller room

you can tell they're over Suburbia and Upsides after that tour lmao

I appreciate them still throwing in Local Man but yeah I don't think we're getting anything off Upsides for a while

They threw in Washington Square Park at the Allentown show. But yeah I doubt anything from the Upsides is gonna be a setlist staple at all. Still surprised they played Melrose Diner when the crowd chanted for it on the letlive. tour at the last couple dates lol.

It’s sad to me that Upsides seems to be going the way of GSOI in terms of them being embarrassed by it/omitting it from shows. With GSOI I get it but Upsides is a really important album to the scene and I think most of it holds up better than most around here seem to. I wish the band would embrace it a bit more.

On the other hand, if they don’t feel a connection to it anymore and they don’t want to play anything from it, I get that too and they should be allowed to do that.

I don't know if its so much that, as they've released 5 other albums from then, so they might as well play the more recent stuff. Doesn't mean they're embarrassed by it. Pretty sure if they were embarrassed by it, they wouldn't have done an anniversary tour.
