Sweet, thanks a lot! I’m finishing Final Destination right now so looking forward to checking out some stuff on Shudder.

Letterboxd is my go-to for exploring a streaming catalogue. You can sort by Popularity or Average Rating to find the "best" movies on there, which is what I normally do with any trial that I get for a streaming service to find a shortlist of things I want to watch.

You can see the Shudder US catalogue here: https://letterboxd.com/films/on/shudder-us/

I am absolutely in love with Psychos in Love so far. I’m finding it unexpectedly warm and comforting?

    Watching trailers before Smile

If Tim is in Bones and All there must be more to it than teen monster romance right

New trailer for Prey for the Devil actually makes it look pretty interesting

Kind of sick of seeing trailers for Amsterdam, Halloween Ends and Black Adam, but the ones for DnD and Babylon look pretty fun

It’s definitely not a teen monster movie

It’s from the director of Call Me By Your Name and the Suspiria remake, so it’ll be slightly more elevated then your average teen romance haha

  10. Here's a list just based on the last year or so, no guarantee it's all on there but I would assume most of it should be. I've bolded my favorites:
The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs (this one is fun to watch live because the movies are always a surprise, but there are four seasons, a marathon, and numerous holiday specials if you happen to see movie that's on your list. I'll mark any here that he's done with an asterisk)
    WNUF Halloween Special
    Brain Damage* and Frankenhooker*
    The Clovehitch Killer
    The Crazies
    Psycho Goreman
    Fried Barry
    Winterbeast
    Ms. 45
    Hard Rock Zombies
    The Stepfather*
    The Baby*
    Housebound*
    Mandy*
    Caveat
    Seance
    Sledgehammer* and Things*
    V/H/S/94
    Hell House LLC
    Maniac*

I don't know that any of these are jump scare movies, and there's only a couple of slashers, but they range from insane SOV stuff to horror comedies, psychological thrillers, and everything in between, so hopefully you find something you like. I'm sure others can chime in and either second recs here or add their own

  11. I’m still thinking about The Wretched almost 24 hours later. That’s a fun feeling.

I’ve only seen The Clovehitch killer out of everything here which I loved. I’ve been wanting to watch Psycho Goreman and the V/H/S movies. Excited to check these out. Thanks again for the suggestions!

    Haunt

A good mix of the Shudder originals!

Watched Sissy and My Best Friend's Exorcism last night. Sissy was really really good. An interesting slasher with good writing and nasty gore. If you liked Bodiesx3, you're going to love this. Hopefully this will get Aisha Dee more roles because she kills it. Not sure why BFE was rated R. The movie was just okay, but fun.

  15. I'll add Sissy to my list! And yes, seconding Host and Haunt*, especially this month!

Thanks for the list! I’ve seen Haunt. One of my favorite’s of the last few years. Definitely checking out Sissy as I loved Bodies, Bodies, Bodies.

Watching Psycho Goreman to start these lists. About 15 minutes in and already loving it!

  19. Smile was the biggest surprise this year, perhaps because from the trailer I didn't expect it to actually be any good. Thematically it's like a mixture of Umma and Ringu. Stylistically the soundtrack is a bit annoying and there are a few too many jumpscares but the sweeping cinematography is at times gorgeous. Lead performance is stellar. Not a perfect movie and still behind the likes of Nope and Barbarian but I think it's worth the watch.

Hadn’t heard anything about Sissy, adding it to the list.

Probably said something like this last year but both Criterion Channel and Peacock are streaming a bunch of the classic Universal monster movies, and I can’t recommend them enough if you haven’t seen them. Most of them are between 70-80 minutes and absolutely hold up. Watching The Invisible Man currently and I’m still taken with how well the effects hold up

Also enjoyed Offseason and Spiral (not the Saw one) on Shudder.

  24. Hah, "Spiral (not Saw)" made me think of Tag (not Renner). Japanese horror movie, one of the wildest most bonkers things I've seen

  25. Did Wolf of Snow Hollow tonight. Not really as horror driven as I thought it might be, but definitely had fun with it. Still need to check out The Beta Test sometime
