Definitely a step below Cheer for me, but still solid.

Pat dropped a morsel that Drug Church is working on another record already on this week's Axe To Grind.

^Same. Hygiene is great but Cheer has the potential to be an all timer.

But neither album has Bliss Out which is their best song.

I think this has been mentioned but throw Tawny and Bliss Out onto Hygiene and it may beat Cheer for me

help me out because it seems like a blanket statement anti-“cancel culture” anthem which is cringey as hell

It's not about cancel culture itself it's about giving up art you love because someone who made it got cancelled or went to prison(for valid reasons).

Art vs. Artist is a pretty divisive topic. Patrick just has the view that the art is about your connection to it not who made it. Even if that person is awful.

Now I'm sure there are limits. I doubt many people kept listening to lost prophets but maybe Patrick would hard to say. Though he does go to the point of mentioning double homicide...

Gonna be honest and say Pat probably doesn't give a shit about us reading too deeply into his lyrics because he's off living his best life in Australia making x-rated graphic novels.

If you've listened to Worst Possible Timeline, this kind of shit shouldn't surprise you in the slightest even if he is left of center.

He's also speaking to the personal connection made to art, not the idea of continuing to support the artist themselves.

Yea. The more I read them I think maybe the point is more forgiving yourself for enjoying music before you knew someone was a shit. Like enjoying old Kanye.

the point is more you can no longer support someone for valid reasons after they've been rightfully blacklisted from society, but that doesn't erase the emotional reactions that you've had to hearing their music. you gonna tell me the people with "fight your demons" tattoos have never listened to a brand new song since 2016? i can tell you from many users on this website who we all typically agree with on most things that that isn't the case. you hear a song by the jackson 5 and immediately plug your ears so as to not consume it? come on.
