Hello. I normally would shy away from creating my own thread for my own music lol but I've had a few people from here reach out to me with interest, which was kind, so I figured I'd just do it. ffo: menzingers/oasis/interpol with some grunge/power-pop thrown in. thinking of this as a bit of a "calling card" as i'm writing a LP at the moment for next year.

forgot to mention like an idiot: miguel from Echo Base (great florida emo band) did drums. i did everything else. was mixed by a buddy and mastered by Jon Markson (Drug Church/Taking Meds/Soul Blind/bunch of dope shit)

i agree. it's good. one of the other songs has a solo that makes me glad i probably won't play these songs a ton live bc idk if ill be able to replicate it lol

 

idk if anyone would be interested in this, but i cooked up a playlist of songs that were brewing in my head while recording the EP. 2-4 for rookie of the year, 5-7 for track 2, etc. and then the last one is the original for the cover that will be on bandcamp/soundcloud.

This is tight! Feels like those early aughts NYC bands if they decided to make an emo/punk song. I dig it. Your voice even has a julien casablancas vibe but more punk

 

2/3 of the songs i put on the influences playlist for this track are from that scene (interpol and the walkmen) so that tracks. thanks for checking it out!

i will say this is the only song off the EP where i sing in this register. i was kinda afraid to for the rest of them tbh even though i think one of them would have worked better with it. i’d say as a whole the full length is gonna be both more shouty/grungy and deeper vocals for the singing parts

 

digging this quite a bit. the titular part of the chorus was stuck in my head for a good minute after my first listen, which lead me to listen to it another 3 times. stoked for the EP! love the twin guitars at the beginning too

the intro part was the first riff i wrote for the album, the verse part was originally in a different song (this was just bass and drums in the verses at first), and then the spazzy guitar in the middle was the last part of any instrument recorded on the EP. a real hodgepodge song.
