Lost It In The Lights has been the song on repeat (both in my head and in my earbuds) today. So, so good, and probably my favorite of the more "standard" (even there's still tons of interesting stuff in the song) TWY songs on here

Old Friends Like Lost Teeth has my favorite chorus from the band in recent memory. It's so catchy

me either. its a shame because everything before it is absolutely insane to me. i know i just sang praises about the chorus, but the verses especially sound really really good

This is exactly how I feel. Sister Cities met me initially a little cold, even if I liked the sonic direction. Then my mom died a year later, and I have the words “It must get lonely” tattooed on my wrist now. Unbelievable how much that album means to me.

yeah, probably one of the only moments on the album that doesn't quite work for me, but i do like the song overall.

I really am liking the heavier bridges on this. Surprisingly feel in their element.

Is that the heavy part before Josh scream/sings?

    Love that part personally!

I like, but don't love, the bridge of Old Friends. The two moments of the album that just don't work for me are the choruses of Wyatt's Song (really reminds of why I haven't cared for anything Mark Hoppus has done in a while) and Low Tide. I don't actively dislike them, by any means, but I think both songs would be significantly better if the choruses were different, although I know a lot of people disagree on that, especially re:Low Tide!

Wyatt's Song is the only one on here I'm not really feeling

Maybe it isn’t what they were referring to, but I did mean the screaming is what I don’t like. For whatever reason it really takes me out of it, and I usually like a good scream!

  16. I think this thing is flawless from Lost it in the Lights through the end. Songs About Death into Low Tide is an all time great TWY transition. But I think the sequencing of the first half is confusing, even if I like each song individually. I think I’d be fine with losing Summer Clothes and moving Oldest Daughter into its place? The momentum of that first half is rocky

    still, great album

“Put the work in, plant a garden, try to stay a float” is tattoo worthy.

Loving the album. I’m excited to hear them play these songs in a few weeks.

    We don't fight fair

I feel like the band must've had a fever dream conference with Jesse Lacey, Kevin Devine, and Andy Hull before putting together all the parts of Songs About Death.

    Get a big "Redbird" vibe.

God the death cab moment in summer clothes is so good and I appreciate the person that pointed it out (can’t remember if it was here or Reddit)

the weirdest transition for me is Old Friends ending with a bang into the really high-pitched singing of the You're the Reason...

After a good 10+ listens I really like the album. Love Wyatt/Cardinals/Paris the most, but there are no songs I don't like.

Generally, I'm not a fan of the 'quieter' TWY songs, (Madelyn, NCTH title track, Hey Thanks, Flowers), but Beehive and Summer Clothes are two of the better ones.

I really like the third verse of Paris of Nowhere ('all shoulder chips and paper skin'). That song sounds like a modern-day TWY Summers in PA.

I don’t find any of the transitions or the sequencing on this record strange at all. It all flows perfectly imo
