I’m so fucking pissed I couldn’t see Barbarian this weekend. Shooting for a random Tuesday night showing.

watching Cube now. Great rewatch value.

Felt like a fever dream. Not perfect, but perfectly fun Halloween movie that will become a yearly staple for many. It was very much a love letter that was faithful and sincere.

Either way, it was a Rob Zombie movie. It’s going to be divisive and eventually a cult classic.

  4. Yessss more WNUF and Psychos in Love for everyone! And there's a Last Drive-In ep of The Monster Club if that piques your interest!

On reflection, I really liked the second segment of VHS 94. The third was great too until it briefly turns into DOOM Eternal, haha. I think the first was the worst besides the very last scene which was a lot of fun.

Is the WNUF sequel available digitally anywhere? I don’t really have a need for the DVD but would like to buy/rent

  8. First and last segments were my favorite, although the funeral home segment genuinely scared me (and that's saying something).

  9. I don't think so, at least not now. Would be kind of shocked if it wasn't available somewhere by Halloween (Shudder currently has the original) but I also bet someone could find it in the Leaked Films thread or something.

Anyone know why Halloween/Kills isn't on Peacock anymore? Seems like prime time to be up there.

  11. I don't, but it is still on HBO Max

    Just Kills though. It's weird.

Speaking of... I watched both H18 and Kills yesterday. I have to admit.. 18 is by far the "superior" film, but Kills has way better re-watch value.

Kills is so bad it’s good. And I don’t even think it’s that’s bad - more questionable than anything.

I truly think H18 and Kills are two of the worst movies I’ve watched in the past ten years, with Kills being far worse. Not trying to be provocative - it’s totally cool if those movies worked for others - but they actively made me angry, haha. There was so much potential! The only good thing I can personally say about either film was the first scene when Michael gets his mask back and he walks through the neighborhood full of trick or treaters. That was a good scene.

I’ll probably rewatch them someday ONLY because Righteous Gemstones was so good so maybe I just missed something the first time around. I am doubtful, however.

I really enjoyed H18 for what it was and was excited for where the new trilogy was going but Kills totally took the wind out of my sails tbh. I rewatched it a couple weeks ago and it still fell flat. I will surely watch them both again before Ends tho.

  17. Kills is dumb and insane and I love it for what it is lol but I genuinely don't understand the recent dislike for H18. Pretty easily the best since H4

imho halloween h2o, while far from great, gives such a better portrayal of a traumatized laurie. I love the idea of a movie that really jumps into that aspect of her character but it feels so frustratingly over the top at points in h18. That, the bad jokes, and the entire first half of that just did not work for me whatsoever

plus h2o just way more fun.

I would take h18 over kills any day though.

Yeah Halloween 2018 is good. The thing with the doctor was dumb, but hardly ruins the movie. I don't love the '18 version of Haddonfield, but Kills makes up for it with more Halloween vibes.

I'm currently trying to muster the will to watch Zombie's Halloween 2. It's the only one I haven't seen and I've been dreading it, but I think today is the day.

I used to think the Zombie movies were super underrated and I was going to rewatch them last year but bailed after like two scenes when the dude starts talking about fucking corpses, hahah.

  21. Lol I agree with you re: Laurie's portrayal but find everything else about H20 to be lacking. Different strokes!

I actively dislike Zombie so I'm sure it'll be a slog, but the completionist in me won't let me skip it too much longer.

  23. Def report back. There's been enough discourse in here, I do think his first Halloween film has its merits (I like the childhood Michael stuff and for better or worse, it's got that high school nostalgia for me) but yeah, hearing characters threaten to skull-fuck each other in a Halloween movie is weird and not fun lol. His Halloween 2 is genuinely my least favorite film of all-time, it's so bizarrely edited and feels neverending, but maybe going that hard on it will lower your expectations!

Rob Zombie should just make trashy, gonzo horror movies imo

  25. Unfortunately, I think House of 1000 corpses was a fluke. The sequels were fine, but 31 is right up (or down) there with Halloween 2 for me. And I still the The Lord's of Salem is. Very middling attempt at elevating his schtick.
