If you're by O'Hare, I assume you'll have a car. Your best options for Chicago pizza that are in reasonable distance are:

-Pequod's in Morton Grove (the pizza is the exact same as the Lincoln Park location and it'll be easier to get to)
-Giordano's in Rosemont (yes I know I just shit on it, but pizza is pizza)

I'm not familiar enough with the immediate area, but I remember there likely being some neighborhood joints in the area that are pretty good. You're also right near all of the shit in the Rosemont area like Fogo De Chao that's always fun to go to.

Paradise Pup up the road in Des Plaines is also amazing if you're looking for a place to get a burger and fries.

Edit: I've also heard good things about the beer at Short Fuse Brewing in Schiller Park itself, and it looks like they have solid looking food options

For Chicago chains, it’s either Pequod’s or the tavern style from Lou’s imo.

You are staying not far from where I live (Melrose Park). They actually opened an Uno's in Schiller Park like 2-3 weeks ago, you can try that. Up until then they were mostly downtown. My wife actually just ordered from there a few minutes ago, she is on her way to pick it up.

Edit: getting to the fest from Schiller park might suck though. Are staying in one of those places on Mannheim?

Scratch that, their Pizza sucked. I have no idea how someone can mess up a deep dish pizza so much.

Unos was the first place I ate deep dish and it was ok. My favorites are Pequods, Ginos East and Lou Malnattis. Havent tried Giordanos since I moved here

Giordanos is by far my favorite. Not big on Lou Malnati's. I ate at Pequods twice and I liked it.

Currently doing a quick load of my funny novelty shirts to wear at the festival. If y'all see my I'm very tall and wearing the following shirts each day:

Friday: A Bright Eyes shirt with emo Tobey Maguire from Spider-Man 3
Saturday: A Barney shirt that says "Commit Tax Fraud" on it
Sunday: A shirt that simply says "Remember When Robocop Shot That Dude in the Dick"

Question for the group. I do the Metra every year, not going to chance it this year with the strike. I am thinking of taking blue from Rosemont to Clark/Lake, transferring to pink to get to California. Doing the reverse on the way back. Besides the BS of the pink line at the end of the night, any other issues with this thought process?

Getting back to my hotel last year via Chicago public transit was a nightmare. Good luck to everyone attempting to do that this year.

I'd avoid the subway altogether or at least the station nearest the park.

  18. This was my route when I lived in Park Ridge. The only problem is that it takes a long time. If you don’t mind buses you can save a little time by getting off the Blue Line at Western and taking the 49 down to Ogden.

Strike averted, back to original plan. I live right near the Crystal Lake station. Taking UPNW downtown, western BNSF to Lisle, then stay with my brother-in-law who lives in Lisle. Easiest way to get around.

After flying in yesterday and having a pretty chaotic day overall, I’m kind of thankful we have this extra day to settle in before the festival. We usually get in the day prior but came a little earlier this year.

Side note: We’ve tried Giordano’s and a couple other smaller places I can’t remember the name of for deep dish over the years, finally tried Gino’s East last night and it was by far my favorite.

Jealous of anyone seeing Alkaline Trio tonight at Metro. I was bumping Crimson last night as a means of getting ready.

A dumb first timer question. Have people had luck with the taxi stand outside the fest? Just wanted a backup plan to aftershows if the pink line is a mess.
