I think it’s the production that’s bothering me most but the banjo is throwing me off as well.

hm not really feeling that Maylene track

 

They buried the vocals a bit too much in the Maylene track, but otherwise I dig it.

Not a fan of the new Maylene track, but it's good to see Dallas back and healthy enough to do this again.

 

Yeah, really hope they have a new album. Seeing Dallas perform again is great.

(my 2 cents) I didn't really get into Maylene. I liked He is Legend a lot back then. (I really really liked that song Do you think I'm pretty) Maybe my brain had limited room for southern rock or something stupid.
I kind of like this new song. It could be that I'm older now and I like a comeback. I saw the posts here and went on a little dive on the accident and his recovery. The dude was dragged through hell and here he is now, screaming into a microphone.
I'll probably add the song to my yearly playlist when it hits streaming services. I'm happy he's back doing what he loves.

new Revocation predictably whips ass

 

New Revocation and I AM coming out on the same day makes for one hell of a weekend.

Both records go hard.

 

Yeah I didn't know what to think about the Maylene song. The vocals sounded noticeably different, and I wasn't a fan of the high pitched yells Dallas was doing in the beginning so that took a couple listens to get used to those. I did like the metalcore-ish riffing that comes latter on as it feels like a throwback to their debut and that whole 00s southern metalcore scene.

A new-ish Job For A Cowboy song showed up on my Spotify radio and I thought it was Gojira with a differnet vocalist for a few seconds.
