When you're inside that's cold as hell.

Once acclimated, I'd be pretty cold at 67. Anything below 70 for a sustained period, no matter how hot it is outside, gets too chilly.

Most people I know in CA are in the SF area, and they tell me it’s pretty uncommon to even have AC because the temperatures are rarely not mild. I’ve been checking in with them and it seems brutal out there because there isn’t much to do to escape the heat.

I live in socal and in the 3 apartments and 1 house I've lived in since moving out of my parents' house, none have had central air and only 2 have had the shitty wall units that do barely anything.

Outside, 67 is beautiful. But there's a world of difference with temperatures inside vs. outside.

Agree. It's 75 in here right now, the same as the temperature outside, and it's glorious.

That's where my company is located and my boss lives there and was just talking about that. She's just happy they're not also dealing with wildfires there right now.

I grew up without central AC for most of my childhood, and even when we moved from that house to an apartment when I was a teen, we had it but didn't use it because electricity wasn't included in our bill. I did convince my mom a few times on the really hot heat wave days to use it there though because it was unbearable without it.

Probably why I'm comfortable with 75-78 AC. Also the downstairs of my current house is half underground so it stays cool regardless of what the AC is set at, and I hang out in our den down there a lot.

That being said, I know it won't be a popular take around here but I do feel bad for the brits. I'm sure it's an institution many of them feel some connection to and they haven't known anyone else in that role since the 50s or whatever. So sad day for them. But for the irish though....it appears the time has arrived:

People also just feel temperatures differently and some people get cold or overheat way easier than others. When I lived with my parents, they kept the central AC at 74/75, and that was never comfortable for me. It takes very little for me to sweat, and sleeping was miserable for me. Now that I live alone, I keep the central AC at 68 or 69 always and I’ve never once felt cold or uncomfortable in my house

As a brit, I don’t really care for the Queen or the royals. That said, it’s never nice when someone dies and I feel for her family (well, William and Harry).

Thankfully, i’m flying to the US on Wednesday so can avoid a lot of the oncoming annoying coverage and boomers acting weird.

Sometimes the worst thing about someone dying is that they died without justice being served and with their power lineage intact
