It's really easy to hear on "Sad Clown" how his pitch is pretty sloppy when he's shifting between registers.

I don't think it's as big of an issue as people are making it out to be. I think his aging tone and this record's minimal tuning is just grating to some people, but I don't think he's suddenly lost his ability to sing like some people are claiming.

Wild if anyones sayin that, lol.
He was pretty pitchy during that morning performance last week. VLV had some parts that were pretty bad. That last high note? Yikes

i listened to the whole thing front to back with an open mind. i continue to be confused how anyone finds this to be anything other than horrible lol but thats alright. just extremely fumbled songwriting left and right with ridiculously grating, often out of tune vocal performances that push the limits of what i find acceptable for my ears to take in. the vocals on full collapse are more in key than this album.

That’s fair. And I’m not claiming his vocals to be perfect by any means. It’s just not a distraction to me or anything. Normally something like being even slightly off key would irritate me to where I’d give up on whatever song I’m listening to. That hasn’t been the case for me with this. That’s all I know!

    Things have changed.

The lack of tuning doesn't bother me. It's actually a nice change after how hyper-produced the last few records were.

I don’t see it as off key or off pitch at all, I just think he’s overdoing it way too much on a lot of songs. Like, we get it, you can hit some high notes. Doesn’t mean you need to do it on almost every song.

hes off key/pitch extremely often because he's pushing so hard. it sounds abysmal.

He's really more just screeching than hitting high notes. I haven't even gotten myself to get through the whole album yet. I'm almost positive I'm going to feel like I wasted my time based on the clips, idk lol

Yeah, this is just super boring, beige and one dimensional for me, especially considering their discography so far.

my intial reaction after one listen is that this album is full of great ideas that aren't exactly pulled off all that great. Not terrible, not amazing, plenty to enjoy

I'm very curious if he's going to start playing old songs live again, they would match the vibe of this album more than the last couple albums

    Not newbie, I think Supporter

It's a shame I think there are a lot of really good, creative ideas within the album but the shrieking and flatness every song just is killer. I don't think he "killed his voice" as everyone is saying everywhere, he's just not talk-singing and singing with subtlety as he usually does. I always wonder how shit like this gets released without the artist realizing it didn't go over how it intended. Especially one that's big enough that they could easily rework the vocals and release it differently cause money's not really too much an object I'd assume.

If he was going to do this, he should have just flat out made it a "musical" and differentiated it from a normal album. I really look forward to Panic releases, enjoy all of them, I doubt any of this gets any play from me.

Don't Let The Lights Go Out is the only listenable song for me. Even so, would be so much better without shrieking vocals. Sounds like a 50's song, but kinda neat.

I imagine this'll be a shorter album cycle followed by something more agreeable next go around.

I think after having such a big single like High Hopes they / Brendon should have acted swiftly on that whilst the iron was still hot and released a follow up. 4 years later for something very subpar with no big single is a massive misstep, then again there has been COVID...

Someone, please explain the purpose of the 4 guitarists. Like... it doesn't even sound that intricate of a song to necessitate having that many. Two and the bass, sure. Three seems even crazy. But four? I don't think I've ever seen that before.
