I wonder if you could game this . . .

Previously the income-based repayment plans capped payments at 10% of discretionary income, but now you can cap it at 5%. If you're still able to afford more than the 5%, you can opt into the 5% plan and then send monthly additional payments of the other 5% (or whatever you can afford) applied to your principal. I believe that's an option for student loan repayment (although maybe not if you technically have outstanding interest to pay).

the 10k part is just the attention grabbing headline, the significant part is how they are restructuring the IDR payment plan

All public college/universities should be 100% free - this is very doable in the US

If this were to ever happen, I'd go back to school in a heartbeat. I mean I could go now, I don't have kids, no man, nothing really...but I don't have the money for it.

Like let me go to school for Music engineering so that I can produce a John Mayer record and have him fall madly in love with me.

    the end.

"acting your wage" e.g. only working 40 hours a week and doing the job your paid to do. managers are upset that workers are starting to actually stand up for themselves and strike a healthier work/life balance and not bending over backwards to take on more responsibilities without appropriate pay increases and not working 60+ hours and being available all hours of the day

Personal opinions aside, a semi-big win for Biden and Democrats that will hopefully avoid some apathy, and a 'why bother voting, they did nothing' attitude at the midterms. At the same time though, it's a huge thing for Republicans to rally around on their side. Despite polls showing 60/40 (or higher) split in favor of cancelling, if the majority of the 40% all vote in outrage then it may not do much at all to stop a swing red. We all know more people vote with the desire to change, than those that vote for the status quo. Many will say that regardless of the midterms impact, it was the right thing to do and I won't argue that as it's been done to death here, there and everywhere and I don't have a consistent view on it anyway. There undoubtedly will be a huge impact in the fortunes of many.

I also don't understand the inflation arguments. It's not putting money in anyone's pockets since the decision is made while payments are still on hold. It's just not robbing people further.

Its basically only doing the job you are being paid to do. None of that "above and beyond" shit.

I did this at Clarks around 2017. That was my last call center job ever. I was so burnt out.

I know we were all worried that the Gen Z kids were going to destroy everything, buuuuttttt....they don't play. They don't fuck around when it comes to shit like this. They want the right pay for the amount of work they do and I think that is valid as fuck. If they are the only ones to have the balls to stand up and say something, then more power to them. I'm too old to be an asshole to my boss, lol.

I don't see this being a big motivator for republicans. Many of them, especially on the younger side, will benefit from it and the older ones were likely going to vote and not switch parties anyway.

There is also no direct negative impact on it. Sure there will be a lot of cranks grumbling about it, but it's not like it's something that can be undone and even if it could, undoing it wouldn't really benefit anyone.

At the job I was at for 10 years up until last November, I was on a system where I had to log my hours. We were paid for overtime. And our team was notorious for being vastly understaffed, for the amount of work asked of us, so basically throughout 2020 and 2021 I would usually put 90-100 hours on every pay period, even though I did probably 60 hours of work total tops, just to get the extra money I deserved

Jesus Christ, that man is just NOT attractive at all. Any girl that claims that he is, is seriously brainwashed or paid to like him.
