My freshman year of high school was 2009 and now I'm graduating from college in December. So I will have potentially started high school and finished college before they drop a new album. Cool.

 

I remember walking across campus my first semester of college listening to the leak of Daisy, it scaring the shit out of me and thinking it was a fake for a minute.

 

My story, in brief.

 

Man, I still remember sitting on my couch in my bedroom the day I listened to the leak about 3 weeks prior to the official release and being beyond caught off guard by Vices. Then when it was officially released, my friend and I drove to the local record shop the day of and they only had 1 copy. I purchased it, then burned it for the friend I was with (who I also lived with at the time). A week later, they played Tower City Amphitheater in Cleveland for the first night of the Daisy tour. That same tour, my friends and I drove to Long Island the weekend after Thanksgiving to see them play Nassau Coliseum.

So many great memories.

 

the day daisy came out i stayed home sick from school with uhhh i forgot what i had probably just a cold or stomach flu and had my mom drive me to vintage vinyl to buy it so i could go to their acoustic set before the show in october. then when my friends got out of school for the day i was feeling better so i went back down there with them.

 

I don't have a cool Daisy story. But this is it anyway. I was 17, didn't have a car, and FYE was in a mall that was a 3 hour walk away from me. I was bored and walked over to the mall, bought Daisy, and then watched a movie at the theater (don't even remember which one). This was in like March of 2014 though, so I don't have a crazy 7 year story. haha

 

The first Brand New song from Daisy I learned how to butcher on guitar was Bought a Bride. I remember I listened to this my freshman year of high school the first time, would've been about 2012 since it was around the second semester. It was love, but I remember not being able to listen to this album for a very long time, not casually. I'm still not sure why, but it affected me very viscerally for a long time, like it was an honest to god mood altering album for me and not really in a good way. It made me anxious and bummed out based on the instrumentation alone, and in retrospect I guess it was because it brought things that were there bubbling to the surface. Towards the end of high school and definitely my freshman year of college (just last year) it received heavy rotation because I started to relate to the lyrics re: isolation a lot more as I was sort of confronted with the reality that I wasn't very good at rebuilding my social sphere from the ground up. It soundtracked the anxiety leading up to college, and the days where I was just alone most days. It went from a listen I both relished and dreaded to my go to for a lot of days. It means a lot to me and got me through a hard couple of years. In 2009 I was like, 12 or 13 so would've been in middle school haha.

My biggest confusion about today was Sapone posting that really awesome clip and quickly removing it.

I thought that was a good sign something was happening today, and Sapone just got a little trigger happy.

 

Ya it's a bummer for sure. As much as I want to get excited, I'm keeping a detached approach when it comes to anticipating new music. I mean at this point we have to be prepared that it may come out in 2017 only.

Maybe they'll embrace the whole "Still Raging Inside Me" thing.

 

So the fall tour will just be the same old setlist eh...crazy when they must be sitting on so much unreleased stuff but they have basically just been playing the same songs for 5-6 years now.

 

I bet we see not the sun and some other rarities on the tour

 

What if the fall tour is actually a daisy 10 year tour and they just play the record every night... I would LOVE that

 

It's such a short album they could play it and then basicallly play a whole other set after

Yup.

 

Maybe they'll release a new single before the tour, play it there, and then not even acknowledge the album for another half year! :)

 

If they press it on 12" vinyl, I swear....
