They really shouldn't have split up the finale. Both episodes felt a little light on their own. Overall incredible season, super curious where it will go. I'm just happy that Tyrell is actually real (And was he always such a bad actor? I need to rewatch S1)

agreed completely on splitting the finale. they both felt light but I think they would've worked really well back-to-back. and I always enjoyed Tyrell, but I never thought he was mind-blowing. some people really seem to love him but I think he's just kinda there. really hope to see more character development from him next season. everyone else developed so much this season and because we didn't see him at all, I feel like his character just fell flat when he came back.

I feel like the finale didn't even need two parts. Easily could have combined what was important from both halfs into one hour. There was a ton of unnecessary fluff.

    That ending though.

I can see why Sam intended this to be one episode instead of broken into two weeks. Kind of killed the flow for the 2nd part. Just a guess, but I wonder if USA broke it up so the episode wasn't talking about blowing up an NYC building the same week as 9/11.

All in all, it was a great episode. No idea what is real with Elliot/Tyrell/Angela. Part of me still thinks that Tyrell (in his current state) is all in Elliot's head, but I definitely need to rewatch the episode a few times before going full on conspiracy theorist.

I've heard that it had to do with 9/11, but I don't entirely buy that. IIRC it was only a few weeks ago that the decision was made to split it (and if I'm that's not true, then I guess the 9/11 thing is legit), because USA knew months ago when the finale would air.

And yeah, it's so clear that this was the 2nd part of an episode. It felt like nothing happened and we got no answers, when that's actually not the case. I don't think it would have felt that way if it was split as originally intended.

And everything is real. Tyrell shot Elliot. It was done in a way that we, as viewers, question whether or not Elliot actually got shot until we see blood on his hands.

Angela also told Tyrell that she needs to be there when Elliot "wakes up," presumably in the hospital.

its kind of a bummer how similar this still is to fight club. Blowing up the building, Elliot almost getting killed for trying to stop phase two.

Yeah, the second they started talking about blowing up the building, I was immediately reminded of Fight Club.

Pretty good finale, but not one of the shows best episodes. I think maybe it would have been more enjoyable to see both parts consecutively?

  10. Yeah this season was better to binge watch IMO rather than waiting week to week. I have to go back and watch how the finale was intended to be when I have the motivation and time to do so. I was kinda underwhelmed by the ending of this episode cause I was kinda expecting more, but it all makes sense. I'm sure it will more once I do a re watch. Also the stuff with Dom and Darlene was the best stuff of the episode. Them walking to the big board was awesome.

One confusing thing If Elliot gave Tyrell the gun and didn't shoot him, why was there a spent shell casing in the arcade?

No idea. Also, the final shot is of the city completely blacking out as Angela hangs up the phone. Can we assume that season 3 will begin with those back up batteries causing the explosion?

Tyrell said all the paper records would be in that building in a month so I don't think they'd want to do it yet.

Honestly the thing I'm most worried about from the finale is wondering if they're gonna drag any of this out like they did with Tyrell. I don't know if I can take an entire season of the show being dodgy about what's going on with Angela

Well to be fair we don't know when Angela got the phone call. I don't imagine you recover from a bullet to the gut too quickly

Well, I can't imagine that Tyrell (aka the most wanted man in the world) just walked into a hospital with Elliot. Probably some took him to some underground Dark Army hospital/doctor. I'd imagine that that's also where Mr. Robot took Tyrell after he shot him.

I just don't want S3 to be all about Stage 2. If it happens, I hope it happens early

Does anyone think that Mr. Robot flickering in the background after Elliot got shot means the end for him controlling Elliot?

maybe. I think it was just to show Elliot completely losing consciousness. It's also the only thing I found that could be a BTTF reference

Yea, that could be a possibility too

If anything, I would say the mere fact that Elliot got shot and didn't back down from Tyrell shows Elliot has more control now

Also, I hope Dom returns for another prominent role next season. She was a great addition this year.

She was unreal in her scenes with Darlene this episode. I don't think she's going anywhere.

    Prediction:

Darlene is going to work with the FBI to "bust" Tyrell. All while being smart and trying to throw the FBI off Elliot's tail/maybe even pushing them towards "going after" the Dark Army

    Things I want to know..

Why does Tyrell "love" Elliot so much? It was kind of weird how he said it to Angela over the phone.

Also, I don't get why BTTF2 was referenced so heavily. Seemed like it was going to be something important with how much they drilled it into the previous episode.

My guess is that Elliot developed a cult-leader type role in 'fsocety' as his Mr. Robot persona (like Tyler Durden in Fight Club). Tywell seemed like the type that looked up to Elliot and believed he's the answer to changing the world. He would do anything for Elliot, even after it was hinted that Elliot instructed Tywell to stop anyone that got in the way of Phase 2, even if its Elliot himself. Even if Tywell didn't want to harm him, he did as he was instructed
