  1. Watched the first episode 100 foot wave and am definitely into it. The guy is crazy.

  2. After they defeat the AI trying to murder everyone they find out that the nuclear power plants around the world are melting down and will irradiate the planet again. After lots of fighting they find a bunker to survive the fallout with a limited number of people. Nothing goes as planned and eventually they have to turn to cannibalism to survive.

After it's safe enough to go topside a ship returns to Earth that originally launched before the first nuclear disaster. The ship is filled with tons of prisoners that were sent out to mine asteroids. They're pissed that the planet is fucked and get into a war with the bunker people. Eventually everyone realizes Earth is not a feasible option and they all board the prison ship and go back into space in cryogenic chambers.

Over a hundred years later they wake up having arrived at a new planet that was colonized by some humans that were part of the same spacefareing company that ran the prison ship. Unfortunately this new planet's society is run by a religious cult using technology to remain immortal. Our crew eventually wipes them out like they do with everyone.

This new planet is filled with crazy sci-fi shit including these temporal anomalies that work as portals to other planets in the solar system. The crew eventually gets into another war with a technologically advanced faction of humanity that colonized a different planet and were formed from a doomsday cult believing that an alien species was going to wipe out humanity and they had to stop it.

The alien shows up at the end of the series and has a test for humanity. If humanity passes their consciousnesses will be absorbed into this alien collective hivemind and live for ever. If they fail then humanity gets wiped out. Ultimately the factions stop fighting long enough to prove that they deserve to pass and transcend into the alien consciousness except Clarke and her friends who the alien lets go back to Earth and live out their remaining lives without reproducing.

I think that's the gist of it and I might be misremembering parts. It was probably even more insane in actuality.

I was in the middle of typing out my own long explanation, but I’m glad you got to it first. I was trying to condense it but the more I tried to explain, the more insane it sounded so then I kept doubling back to try and explain it further but that only made it worse. Jason, in the final season the actor playing Bellamy wanted off the show so they had him become a cultist and turn on everyone and then Clarke shoots and kills him in the most hilarious fashion. Kane dies and Abby transfers his consciousness to a new body but he’s mad at her for it so then he chooses to die again. Then Abby gets murdered and her body is taken over by one of the rulers of the new planet they’re on and then Clarke figures it out and then shoots her into space. And yeah, the aliens in the end tell Clarke she and her friends will not be allowed to procreate nor will they be allowed to “transcend” (Clarke failed the aliens’ test and is being punished) and join their loved ones in wherever it is they go when they transcend. So they get to live out their last days on Earth until they slowly die one by one. It’s…so much crazier than I am describing.

Oh and let’s also not forget that near the end of season 7 they aired an episode set far in the past at the end of human civilization meant to explain literally everything. It was also a backdoor pilot for a prequel series that we will now, thankfully, never see because for SOME reason the folks at The CW felt uncertain about pulling the trigger again. Can’t imagine why that might be.

Yeah if shows like Infinity Train & Close Enough are being axed due to tax write-offs, then they legally can't make money off them ever again including on streaming. Also great way to ensure they never have to pay residuals. Fuck David Zaslav. Piracy is the morally right thing to do in this case

  14. idk how anybody can trust WBD at this point. people genuinely excited for (and not merely cautiously optimistic about) DC's "ten year plan" are fooling themselves, or just don't care about things that actually matter.

People still want Disney to own everything so that James Bond can meet Iron Man. And dying entertainment journalism/criticism doesn’t help. We’re in a bad cycle and it’s obligatory to mention: Scorsese was right.

I made it through all 7 seasons of The 100 because I really really wanted to like it as much as I did at the beginning, but yeah, the last few seasons were a mess.

  19. I just got a week trial of Prime for two bucks--again--for that sweet sweet free two day shipping, so now I have only seven days to catch up on both Paper Girls AND A League of Their Own or I have to give Jeffrey Bezos (sung in Bo Burnham voice) even more money haha fuuuuck

Why would HBO Max be promoting Titans and Doom Patrol (the episodes that have already aired) ahead of new episodes of Harley Quinn? I'd hardly think that would qualify any of these shows as safe from cancelation given Discovery's terrible track record with DC so far.

edit1: Naming the Joker-centered episode The Killing Vote is definitely directing attention to the fact that Barbara doesn't get shot in this continuity, right? ...right???

edit2: About halfway through Batman Ninja now, really fucking cool, I love the art style

I gotta catch up on HQ, I'm a couple episodes behind. Unfortunately this season just hasn't held my attention as much as the first two. Harley feels reduced to the "annoying girlfriend" instead of utilizing her character progression over the past two seasons, and her crew is barely used despite being full of talent. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great show, it just hasn't reached the same level of laughs from me
