I’ve heard from a pretty good source that something was supposed to have been done by March. My educated guess is that scheduling continues to be the biggest thorn in the side of this band, and recorded music.

 

OK SO TOM ACTUALLY STARTED BLINK WITH THIS GUY SCOTT. MARK DIDNT JOIN UNTIL LATER. THEY MADE THIS DEMO CALLED FLY SWATTER BUT IT SUCKS. AND THEN THEY MADE THIS THING CALLED BUDDHA BUT SOME PEOPLE DISAGREE ON WHETHER ITS A DEMO OR A PROPER ALBUM. DOESNT MATTER BECAUSE A YEAR LATER THEY MADE CHESHIRE CAT WHICH SPAWNED A SINGLE AND A MUSIC VIDEO AND THAT GOT THEM SOME ATTENTION OUTSIDE OF SAN DIEGO.

 

Interesting I didn’t know that even their official YouTube channel only has the original version. Don’t think it was ever discussed but my guess is the band just liked the first version more. They had to originally scrap it because of 9/11 as they felt the images were too close/too soon to what had happened in NY and they were set to release the video I believe a week or so after 9/11 but they had to rush to film the 2nd one. Maybe they feel that enough time has gone by now that they can just have the original out.

 

It drives me crazy that I care about this band as much as I do considering they’ve put out 3 albums in 19 years.

 

Yea I remember the story. I actually saw them play on 9/1/01. I just really enjoyed the updated video and wish we had an hd version, I could always catch it on the dvd I guess.

I like the Deluxe songs more than anything in life!

…but on a serious note, Cali Delux is awesome. I remember being super tombot and trying so hard to hate it, but I jusr couldn’t. Wildfire, Hey I’m Sorry, Misery, Parking Lot, 6/8 are fire! Liked it so
much better than anything on regular Cali.

Don’t think that means it was with Tom necessarily. Matt doesn’t know what’s going on because neither do Mark or Travis. I think people are reading into Matt’s comment too much. Mark has said his recovery has been slow and he’s still not at 100%. I think that’s the biggest hold up and making things so unknown.

 

I will say, when I was like 12, I thought "This is Home" was such a good song. Like even the "That girl will try to make you hard" line just built onto the imagery of a wacky party that I thought was really funny at the time. Now I listen to it and think "What the fuck was Tom thinking?"

The riff is good though.

Didn't put anything from Cali deluxe on there just cause I don't have strong feelings about any of those songs. Same goes for Chesire Cat.

 

If something has been in the planning stages since before March, you would think Matt would know if he was involved or not. At the very least he’d know he was in the band.

While I think Tom will be back for the next album/tour, I think you’re reading way too much into Matt’s comment on his IG.

 

They likely don't tell Matt all that much even in the active times.
