My discovery of the week is Esoteric, a long tenured funeral doom band whose albums work have their grip on me so far. I hadn't really heard anything like this before, so I'm interested in diving into more stuff in that genre and adjacent ones.

I've only heard one song from Man Must Die and it was Kill it. Skin it. Wear it. back from when I was in middle school. How's their discography?

 

I really just spin No Tolerance For Imperfection (Kill It. Skin it. Wear it. is on that album). The rest are good but that album seems to be the best for me.

I'm not really a deathcore guy, but this song/band is better than most of their counterparts

The Great Collapse is where they seriously hit their stride. Still deathcore but you can tell they listen to a fuckton of Gojira among other elements I can't place at the moment. I always liked them but there was something so distinctly baleful about TGC that struck a chord with me. Fucking love Black Mammoth on that album, story behind it is dope as well.

The Sea of Tragic Beasts added more melody and technicality in the long haul by including choruses and such. I like that album a lot (Birds of Prey sounds like a funerary dirge to my ears) but it may not be the best starting point.

sounds good! i checked out their newest a bit recently and dug what i heard, but i keep finding out will putney has produced so many albums i wind up loving the sound of so i wanna explore their discog more
