    Academy Is

Now that you mention it, we left after Blink finished EOTS and listened to the rest as we made our way to the exit so that probably doesn't count. I'm with you though, depending on the encore/last couple songs I could see my exhausted ass heading for the gates, even with MCR.

  3. I've very rarely stayed for a full headlining set. I did all of Nine Inch Nails because I was with my college roommate and they're his favorite band (might end up doing the same this year). I shouldn't have left when I did during Smashing Pumpkins because I had to hear them play my favorite song of theirs from the Pink Line platform.

This is 2 years in a row they are 3 for 3 on headliners I’m REALLY invested in seeing, and With my Airbnb being right on the edge of the park, I’m able to stay for every headliner set anyways, take a 5 min walk to the room or go straight to my car parked near lagunitas and still be early for after shows, took about 3 years to craft the experience and make everything as stress free as possible for myself.

i for sure lucked out by getting a room there in 2017, just by randomly browsing airbnb really early in the year and quickly realizing how sought after that spot was, i became friends with the owner and now i just send her straight cash in the spring and she blocks that room off for me so airbnb doesnt take their cut. she is awesome, she runs a charity that had a booth at riot last year, over by the wedding chapel

The Latest LS Dunes tease, no new info here, but i imagine we will get something more substantial before they play, but if not, that would be pretty rad too

Ya know, I was so disappointed with my experience at blink (couldn't hear anything/too far back) that I totally forgot they even played in 2018 haha. That was also a must for me.

And yeah, I'm not ready for Friday. We typically just catch an Uber/Lyft to our hotel/Airbnb after, but doing so this year is going to be a NIGHTMARE haha.

I posted about Mothica playing Riot Fest on Reddit and someone commented "When was rRot Fest gonna tell us?" And the Riot Fest person replied "sometime next week"

So probably we will have schedule next week! Or at least some news

Darn. I was really hoping it would come out this week.

Interesting scenario! Given that they know it's coming next week, I'm guessing it's a schedule drop with 1-3 more bands added. Doubt it would be much more than that given how crowded the stages already are...

I don't see them making a major announcement for a single act unless they were at least a sub-headliner, or even a small handful of lower tier acts. The only other alternative I can think of is that a few acts are dropping, Mothica is one of the replacements, and they've been waiting a long time to tell us. But that's not how they handled it last year, hah. They just kinda swapped bands out and slid the new ones in when they were lower on the poster.

Isn't there a huge announcement supposedly coming this year? What is that all about?

That's what they said. Something was supposed to be coming "in the coming weeks" which... Never really materialized.

Everything about the festival roll-out this year has been pretty normal. And the schedule/stage breakdown template that the Riot person shared on Reddit didn't indicate any changes to the number of stages.

So no idea what any of that was all about. Probably just PR/marketing hyperbole. They were probably referencing the line-up, the aftershows, the community initiatives, they've been doing, etc.

Maybe they have something more up their sleeves next week. But I kinda doubt it.

at this point I’m wondering if whatever it was supposed to be has fallen through. It seemed like such a big tease when they first mentioned it but now I feel like I haven’t heard them say anything about it.

Maybe the huge surprise is the friends we made along the way

Maybe the huge announcement got sidelined because of the community outrage over festivals in the park and everything going on with that. They definitely made a big tease about it originally that I do think something more is/was supposed to be happening.

Yeah wasn't the quote something along the lines of like the biggest change to the festival since they moved outdoors? Seemed like a really big deal from what I remember. I probably have the wording wrong there but it was something like that?

Also, reminder for anyone who plans to get a locker to book one so you don't forget! Thought about it a little bit ago.

Yeah, actually. It was something about how it's been in the works for years and they "don't usually take swings like this."

But I'm still feeling like it was just sort of hot P.R. smoke at this point.

(But maybe there's more news coming next week along with more bands that could change that? Not holding my breath. But maybe?)

Well this festival has, at times, questionable social media demeanor and occasionally questionable practices, but I’ve never known them to outright lie. So either something actually is coming or they really did lie which isn’t really cool to do.

Well, theres also the option that they didnt lie and actually had something planned but at the end plans fell through.

Was this something that was on the website or an email or just the thing the radiohost from Q101 mentioned on air?

I see a lot of people interested in seeing The Maine. If I wanted to listen...where should I start?

My recommendation as someone who didn't like them until this point in their career would be American Candy and forward
