Influence aside I'm also a pretty big fan of Sabbath and Ozzy. I should have probably said that in my original comment, I don't want to go on an influence vote in any one of these threads as I also like MCR and that wouldn't be right.

 

Right on! I wasn't responding just to you; more of a general response to a type of post I've seen a few times in these threads. I think new album vs. old album conversations can run the risk of falling into the "Well, this one influence X, Y, and Z, so you have to vote for it!" Which, IMO, is super boring. I feel like the subjective opinions and biases that everyone brings to the table with these polls are what have made them interesting.

 

I remember my mind being blown when my friend told me every drum fill in "War Pigs" was different in junior high. Love MCR, really really enjoy The Black Parade, but Paranoid really deserves the win here. Hard to think of a leaner, meaner record.

 

This is true, but it's valid to use any rubric someone wants. If you're not passionate about either and want to let influence tip the scales, have at it.

 

In that case, it makes more sense, but I’ve seen people saying essentially “I like this one more, but this other one is clearly more important,” or feeling guilty about their vote because they voted against the more influential album. I don’t like that. Vote for the one you love more!

it’s one of the four or five best remaining and it’s maybe only their third best album

 

Paranoid and it’s not particularly close

 

Yeah, I enjoyed that a lot. Going to give The Black Parade a listen before voting.

 

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath gets the gold medal. Paranoid is probably silver.

 

i’ve gotten used to you having takes that make me speechless but that one might take the cake.

 

It's by far their most diverse and accomplished.

 

Went with Sabbath here. Love and appreciate The Black Parade but Paranoid simply kicks ass

 

of the first six it’s easily my least favorite

Giant fan of both bands but I went with Sabbath

 

“Planet Caravan” is an all-time underrated late night song.

 

Didn’t need to think about this one at all - even if Paranoid wasn’t as good as it is, TBP has really never clicked with me

 

It'll be quite the victory if Paranoid takes this given how these brackets have been going. Fingers crossed.

I agree. It’s like the rock version of Illmatic. I love this album.

I listened to TBP for the first time pretty recently. It’s good but it’s a little too theatrical for me I think.
