  1. Apparently in the midst of all this Discovery bullshit there's a new teaser for Joker 2

This almost feels like if NatGeo somehow took over Disney instead of vice-versa and started promoting Life Below Zero, Wicked Tuna, and Dr. Pol over everything else.

Wait, they are planning making the only good streaming service worse? I don't understand. Was HBO Max not doing well?

people really don't seem to understand the branding split on HBO Max and that HBO=/=HBO Max=/=Max Originals are all different things.

from everything I've read it seems like its really only the "max original" tier that's at risk of anything and if HBO proper gets more funding that's a better thing than the mostly mediocre "max originals"

this whole thing really feels like people getting outarged over needing instant answers and instant clarity over something that's ~1 year away and preferring to listen to clickbait "journalists"

Made for Love, Hacks, Our Flag Means Death, Peacemaker, Harley Quinn, The Flight Attendant, etc, etc, etc are all great. I don't think Max Originals are lacking in quality by any means.

Station 11 has been the best show in years

  11. To say that we're overacting is so reductive and condescending. As a trans poc, I'd say my outrage regarding the cancelation of Batgirl--which, need I remind you a second time, would've had a trans character and a poc lead--is pretty damn justified. This is only the latest--and most egregious--in a slew of cancelations of DC shows with queer/poc representation, and the fate of projects like Black Canary, Blue Beetle, Peacemaker, Doom Patrol, and Young Justice are now up in the air. Not to mention the non-DC stuff that's already been leaving the platform. The effects of this merger have already been felt.

I’ve always had access to HBO Go/Max because I subscribe to HBO via my cable package (yeah, I still have cable). Will I still get the new HBO service as part of my package or no, because they’re merging? I ain’t paying for additional HBO if I’m already paying for it on cable.

Yeah I’m the same way it’s through my HBO subscription via my Xfinity account

I thought the Max originals were a good tool to give HBO more content without sacrificing quality or over saturation. Other than made for love, I never really got behind any of the other ones so I'm not losing much.

For some movies the probably want to milk as much revenue from VOD rentals as possible before they give it to subscribers.

Now that Prey is finally released now i'm interested to see if 20th Century's next Hulu movie will also be good.

Rosaline will be a romantic comedy take on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet told from perspective of the character Rosaline, who is Juliet's cousin and Romeo's ex-lover. From the screenwriting team behind 500 Days of Summer.
