Pretty sure I’d cal Blink Mark and Travis band, AvA Tom’s band, and Alk3 Matt, Dan and Derek’s band.

Hard to call Blink Tom’s band if he hasn’t been part of the band since 2015 or whatever, and the band has had multiple releases and tours. Doesn’t mean it can’t be his band again, but some fans are just Tom crazy.

 

He owns the band though.

 

It’s like saying Dick Clark is part of New Year’s still. Maybe not exactly, but you know what I mean hahaha

But comparing someone’s company continuing after death is not the same as someone coming back to a company they founded and still own.

 

I was speaking to actively being involved. I didn’t see Tom on stage or credited on writing their last albums, just like Clark wasn’t hosting in the end prior to (and of course after his passing).

Unless you have first hand knowledge, you can’t say for a fact that Tom is coming back (even though the assumption is logical one to make). And hasn’t he sold interest in “Blink”?

 

Tom’s said he‘s going to come back a million times. Basically anytime someone mentions the band to him. ‘I talk to Travis everyday haha yeah, we’ll get together again when everything makes sense. I’m just so busy with XYZ.‘ is essentially his stock answer.

Tom never sold his rights to the band, he sold his publishing. Tom has at least (but probably more) 33.33% voting power. He gets paid on every Blink item, show, tour, record, etc. whether he’s actively there or not. His percentage of participation in those profits is likely different than Mark and Travis, but he’s getting paid regardless.

That’s also a pretty big reason he’s been okay being ‘out of the band’, I’d imagine.

You’re making more points that would suggest he doesn’t want or need to come back.

His band is AvA, even if he still has rights in Blink. I guess people do t like AvA as much as they let in if all they want is Tim back in Blinknto try and recapture something between Dude Ranch And S/T.

 

I don’t care if Tom comes back or not at this point, if I’m honest. My Blink fandom faded a long time ago.

I’d agree, those are good reasons to just continue to lay out, but I also think he still loves that band and genuinely does want to do it again. Either that or he needs that full share now because his companies/divorce have likely taken a lion’s share of the money he had.

 

Hahaha….entirely possible. I’m sure there is a level of regret and nostalgia as they are all growing older. He’s a hype man too.

They’re gonna do what they’re gonna do, but seeing him leave the bands twice kind of makes you hope they learned their lesson. Also, even if Matt does stop playing, it’s should be handled right.

I really just want good interesting music if they are up for it.

This. I prefer Toms guitar especially when he ditches the delay pedal. But Skibas singing, notably on choruses, is very good. If we get Not Now mixed with Los Angles then we are in for a treat

I think Tom + Skiba would be the more interesting setup. Specially with touring since they would have benefited from adding a second guitarist live ever since Enema came out.

 

This is a pretty toxic attitude to have and it's disrespectful to the others in the band. ("The other guy?" Come on.)

It is not Tom's band, just like it's not Mark's band. blink-182 is a group of people making music together. But it's especially ridiculous to say it's Tom's band when he's literally quit the band twice.

If Tom rejoins the band, it is ridiculously shitty to think it's okay to kick Matt out just because Tom might not want him in it.

 

You can absolutely think it’s shitty, but it’s his band to do with what he wants.

As I said previously, whether he’s ~in~ the band or not - he’s still a co-owner, he still has a majority voting power on whatever decisions the band makes (if he chooses to).

It’s the music ~business~.

Which part though?

He and Mark are co-majority owners in Blink-182 inc., and if you believe the conversation around the ‘09 reunion, they modified Travis‘ stake in the band, whether that means an equal money split or an ownership in the band is unclear.

Though Blink 182 is registered to Mark, Tom, and Travis post ‘09. Previously was just Mark and Tom.

Just like any business, whomever has the percentage calls the shots or can stop things from happening.

If Tom decides he wants to come back but only if Matt is out of the picture - that’s his right and he can make that clear to Mark and they can go from there and Mark can decide to go with it or not. And Tom either comes back or he doesn’t.

I’m not even saying that’s going to happen. I don’t even really care if it does. I’m just talking the logistics of things, and the business of the band.

 

This is beyond fan-fiction into just ... weird made up fantasy now. Seriously, that's not how any of this works or what is happening.

no decision has been made on if it would be a three or four-piece. So, literally precisely what Mark said: as of right now, there’s no tour booked, and no news to report on.
